WithSAP Crystal solutions, you can combine the pixel-perfect reporting capabilities of SAP Crystal Reports with the secured delivery mechanisms of SAP Crystal Server in an on-premise environment or on a virtual machine in the cloud.
Refresh your reports as often as needed using parameters such as date range, ID number, zip code, and more to produce compliance-ready forms that look identical to preprinted forms sourced from governments, banks, and other institutions.
I have a Crystal Report that contains a field within a text object (to control line spacing) and has "can grow" selected. When I export the Crystal Report to a PDF there are instances when the text is cut off.
I am using Crystal Reports that is bundled with Visual Studio 2008. The text area has "can grow" checked, the font is set to Helvetica LT Condensed, bold 14, and the line spacing is set to 0.75 times normal.
I have run into this as well - Crystal seems a little confused about where the text box borders are. I suggest adding a small right indent to the text box (right click on the text box, select 'Format Object', select the 'Paragraph' tab, and enter small numbers (maybe .2 or so) into the Right text box. This should help with the right margin.
On a side note, text being truncated on the bottom seems to be a result of adjusting the line-spacing too small. if you set the line spacing as a multiple of the original text point size and make it too small, the bottom part of the line is truncated. I changed this to "exact" and entered a specific point size (e.g line spacing of 18 pt. for my 16 pt. text) and this seemed to solve the problem. If the line spacing is too small it seems that Crystal masks off the bottom part of the text.
I experienced this problem when I updated a Stored procedure. I changed the Description field that I was pulling onto the report from a VARCHAR(100) to a VARCHAR(150) inline with a requested change. The Crystal report in preview mode had stored old limit of 100 characters and was truncating the label. This was rectified when I verified the database again.
I too discovered this too. Only happened in HTML view. I did a few things which for 3 blocks I needed to do different and tried numerous scenarios to choose the best to go with.- Format text from left justufied to justified - Grip the right edge of the text box and pulled it in a tick from the right margin - Switched the font from Times New Roman to another (wierd) - Exporting from BI LP as a CR RPT and exported from the CR 2013 client to PDF - Change font size - We had an "and / or" midline and changed it to "and/or"
Default Printer: The printer you use when authoring a report must match a printer where you are rendering a report. On our servers, there are no printers installed except the Microsoft XPS Document Writer. Be sure to select that as you default printer when writing the report.
Form Authoring: When you add a database field to your report, don't drag it from the field explorer onto the design surface. First insert a text object onto the design surface. When you've positioned and resized the Text Object the way you like it, drag the database field onto the Text Object. You'll see the name of the database item in curly braces appear in the Text Object. For whatever reason, the database field will wrap better when it is enclosed by a Text Object.
This got me literally stressed for a whole night!!What worked for me was this:if you are using crystal reports with dataset (linked to a dataset),most likely you changed the length of the field in the database. so if the length was 10 and you adjust to 20 for instance, no matter what you do, the report is reading the "Old" dataset with the field of length 10 characters and truncating it at 10 (I don't know why it did that)...believe it or not I just copied the query from my "Old" dataset, created a new dataset and VOILA!!! it worked like charm...
First, let me say, we are a long time Sage user. Started with Mas90 back in the mid 90's. I'm really tired of the way Sage has handled their accounts. This newest issue is so annoying. Each year end we run vendor labels for files. I just find the custom report I made years ago using Crystal Report Designer. I usually double click on it, it opens up designer, and I just refresh to this years data, and we're done. This year, nothing happens. The association from .rpt files to CR is gone. So I call SAGE, and their phone system basically says "Hi, we're too big for our britches and are too busy. Use online chat or the sage city forums..... Goodbye" Ok it didn't say that word for word, but that's what I interpreted. So I get on Chat, and the guy says "looks like you don't have CR as part of your bundle". Well, we have had Crystal Reports as part of our bundle for the last 20 years! But I guess this is now something different, that you have to buy CR just like now Payroll is something we have to buy different?
Is this different than the folder \Crystal Reports 2011 for sage\ ? The chat support person was having me run the setup.exe under that folder, but when I click on it, nothing happens at all. Tried as administrator, lowered my UAC to 0. Nothing. That's when they said "Oh, looks like it's not part of your bundle". So where would I find the server install files? We use it as a stand alone program on 1 workstation.
For information on installing Crystal Reports Designer, you can read the full Knowledgebase article # 20437 on our Sage Portal for details but below is the summary of installation process for Crystal Reports Designer.
Note: Only one version of Crystal Reports should be installed on a workstation. If one version is currently installed, and another version is subsequently installed, some of the files laid down by the previous installation will be overwritten by the most recent installation (even if the most subsequent installation is of a previous version). This may cause error messages or problems when attempting to create, modify, or print Crystal forms or reports.
The Workstation Setup client installation for Sage 100 will install a runtime version of Crystal Reports that allows for print or preview of forms and reports.
We upgraded to Kinetic Cloud in November '22. We have multiple custom crystal reports that work. We had to get a READ ONLY environment, which is a copy of the LIVE database, so that we can read the data using a DSN file. Epicor sent all the connection string info and all we had to do was build the connection in Crystal Reports. It works great. But please note, this only works in the SMART client and not the URL client. And only if your users can access the location where you store the report, i.e. a server share. So remote users without a VPN are out of luck.
We are looking into using Outsystems and are currently demoing it, but have over 500 Crystal Reports/BIRT Reports that would need to be connected to Outsystems applications. Through searching the forums, there does appear to have been a Crystal Reports Forge item back in 2015, but it has since disappeared. There are a few SAP Forge items, but none of them seem to indicate anything to do with Crystal Reports. BIRT is an open source reporting tool based on the Eclipse platform which is another option if Crystal doesn't work.
You might want to check out this forge component, Hubway Connect. This components has lots of great features like connecting your OutSystems app's database with other applications, it can create comprehensive reports and dashboards using any analytics tool . Hope this helps.
Read through that and watched the video, but I don't think that would work in this case. We would need something that can be accessed inside applications to run Crystal or BIRT reports. Thank you for the response though. I will keep Hubway in mind for potential dashboard creation and organization.
Looked into it, but SSRS is a separate product from Crystal Reports and has also been discontinued in favor of Power BI reporting as of late last year I believe. We have so many reports, that trying to move them again to a new reporting software would be prohibitive.
Is there any way I can connect Crystal Reports with Atlassian Jira Project Management Software (v7.11.0#711000-sha1:ff06e53)to create charts like this ?? Think that Creports can be connected with Microsoft's DB products , If it can be connected with Jira back end DB / or directly connected with Jira through any plugin ,Is there any issue with consistency??
Crystal Reports is a popular Windows-based report writer solution that allows a developer to create reports and dashboards from a variety of data sources with a minimum of code to write. Crystal Reports is owned and developed by SAP.
