There are currently 3(or more. inform me if merong wala pa sa list) types of scrypt-based algorithm.
1. scrypt (default)-used in LTC, Doge, WDC and etc.
2. scrypt-adaptive N-used in VTC,
3. scrypt-jane-used in UTC.
take note of this, as each type of cgminer will not work with the other type.

guys I am curious why I always gets lower hash rates when using SGMINER vs CGMINER. am I doing something wrong? I think I am the only one with this experience here?

try specifying alternate kernels.  zuikkis and ckolivas are known to give better hashrates.

@maru I'm using sgminer with zuikkis' kernel.. nakakuha ako ng around 20-30khs boost against cgminer for my R9 270..

@Slide, AO

thanks for the suggestions, will try them now that I have rigs with identical GPUs.

sgminer (HIS 280X) is putting up same hash rate compared to cgminer (Sapphire 280X).

will try alternate kernels on one rig and try to compare with 2 GPU on each.

will post the results once I can get them to work...

Hi guys, ask lang po about sa level of difficulty when setting software miners compared to each other. Pare-parehas lang po ba sila? Or mas madali cgminer compared sa cudaminer? Balak ko po kase mag upgrade ng gpu from 7750 to 750ti. Thanks!

though i never tried cudaminer but as far as I know may kanya kanya silang level of difficulty sa pagsesetup. the only difference lang is mas maraming support or mapagkukuhanan ng info ang cgminer compared sa cudaminer kasi for the past months/years AMD type VC ang widely used due to the hashing capability ng AMD over sa NVDIA. lately lang kasi lumabas ang 750 Ti. siguro these coming months marami na tayong makikitang setup ng cudaminer. well that's just my opinion..what say you guys?..

I'm just aiming for default hashing rates, no OC, since hirap na nga ko makabuy ng GPU :( And balak ko po sanang i-mine ay Dogecoin.

tinakbo ko "cudaminer --help" at parang walang parameter for intensity, mas straight forward and cudaminer i-takbo, ang napansin ko lang worth tweaking sa cudaminer is the launch-config parameter pero based sa mga nabaso ko ang common na ginagamit ay "-l T5x24"

here is a sample cudaminer:
cudaminer.exe -l T5x24 -C 1 -i 0 -H 1 -o stratum+tcp://us.clevermining.com:3333 -O name:x

been using cudaminer for my Zotac gtx660ti. there are a few parameters you can use.

this link has a download for the latest cudaminer which booste my hash rate from 160 to 260:

I use "-l auto" or "K49x4" and both give me around 260 khash. I don't bother to tweak my settings anymore as cudaminer on auto does a fine job of auto-tuning :)

some observations:

CGMINER - default AMD GPU miner. completely stable on 280X and 290.

SGMINER - same speeds as CGMINER using multiple 280X, crashes when using 290 after 4 hours despite identical parameters with CGMINER. maybe my SGMINER is bad? otherwise, SGMINER interface is much more informative since the reject rates a re expressed in percentages.

CUDAMINER - new version I mentioned added 100khs to the GTX660Ti mining speed. good stuff. if I get a 750Ti, will use this. as if I have another choice hahaha!

MINERD - doesn't deduct from khash rate when used simultaneously with CUDAMINER. drops CGMINER and SGMINER hash rates by 50-100khash.

Oo, sa kin SGMINER at cgminer nagcacrashes after 4 hrs. so ginawa ko autorestart ng pc every 3 hrs.

@maru

applicable ba yang new update sa cudaminer sa mga old videocard and also increases its khash?

cgminer crashes if i put the wrong settings on my thread-concurrency after 3hrs but i manage to find the default settings for my 270x and its now stable.

ganyan din ang nangyayari sakin dati sa R9 270 ko and i found out ang culprit pala is tc, memclock, and intensity ko..i set it too high pala so binabaan ko and ngayon stable na sya and nagincrease pa khs ko from 420khs dati to 480khs.

@Agentdap

wow that makes two of us. I am sure there is something wrong with my SGMINER parameters but what bothers me is that why can CGMINER mine using the same parameters and I do not get the crash. your technique is invaluable though, especially if the hash rate is better using SGMINER :)

@Wein

not sure about the new CUDAMINER working with older cards as I only have my GTX660Ti to play with here. but if this is an optimized miner, maybe it can work with older NVIDIA cards. best thing would be to try it out if you have older NVIDIA GPUs around and compare the results using the old CUDAMINER.

have you tried SGMINER Wein? maybe it can give you better hash rates / coins-mined-per-day-results? I can't get it to give me substantially better hash rates, but the window displays more utilitarian data over CGMINER.

@Anti Online

yup I am trying to understand what makes the 290 crash. weird thing though is that CGMINER using same parameters works perfectly fine. been mining for more than 24 hours using CGMINER for the 290 but the instant I use SGMINER, it will crash sooner or later. usually within 4 hours.

anyone care to post links of a better SGMINER version? what is the best SGMINER BTW? I am looking to use it for scrypt coins.

im using sgminer by zuikkis, here is the link:

- im using xubuntu though and have compiled it on my system so might mean better compatibility
- have run it more than 24hrs with HW=0 on HD 7850 @ 403kh/s overclock a bit high but stable, no hangs and 2 gpu thread

@Istvan

thanks for the link! I believe this was posted earlier but I have no idea how to use it :) does this work for windows 7 64 bit or do I have to do something before it becomes usable? the download folder doesn't seem to contain an exe?

@all

just an update for the Radeon 290 users, I got the Sapphire R9 290 reference working on SGMINER with no crashes using windows 7 64 bit:

1) delete previous bin files in SGMINER folder
2) using MSI Afterburner (which for some reason, says will expire soon?), volt to +0, core to 947, mem to 1500, and powertune to +20.
3) SGMINER bat file to contain tc 28000, i 20, g 1, w 512.
4) enjoy 820 khash!
5) temp sucks at 82 though, so try to decrease voltage via MSI Afterburner to maintain hash rate without crashing.

I need to go to work so I'll probably tweak the voltage settings tomorrow to get lower temps. otherwise I got this running for 6 hours without hiccups so far, at 0 HW.
