Di ako sure boss sa 3slots,
Personally yung gamit ko Asrock 970 extreme 3, 4slots na sya, nabili ko for P4,200 brandnew
And according to cryptobadger and coinminingrigs, this is the cheapest board for mining
In terms of price over number of slots.

maam lorna, if you want to maximize your output (powerconsumption/hash output)
its should be PCIe 3.0.
mabagal pag sa 2.0 mo ilalagay ang mga Highend GPU nato, (check their specifications, nakalgay dun PCIe 3.0).
so that means sa board n yan 1 lang ang 3.0.

actually hindi nagmamatter yung PCI-E version for mining. Because if it did, lahat ng miner ngayon naka x16-x16 risers.
It only does matter pag nag gaming.

Kasi sa riser, you can use 1x riser pra sa PCIe 3.0 16x na slot
im not sure kung pwede mong gamitin yung 1x risers sa PCI 2.0 slot

Opo walang kaso yun. As long as kasya :D Minimal lang kasi yung kelangan nyang bandwidth so okay lang kahit ano basta may communication from GPU-MOBO

yup the pci express slot can be 1x or 16x, the mining speed will be the same. but you need 16x to 1x riser cables to attach the 16x gpu to the 1x pci express slot.
if you wanna start out with a gaming rig, just get the asrock 970 extreme 4 as recommended. it has 2 pci express 16x slots so you can mine with 2 cards without the need for cables. just get cables and add more gpu once you are satisfied with mining profitability. otherwise just connect the crossfire cable and you have a monster gaming rig!
the asrock has an external on/off switch on the board as well as a reset switch so it's easier to use this without a case if you are saving on cash.
crossfire does not help in mining. just install the cable if you are playing games :)
personally I am using Asrock 990FX Extreme4 and 2 units of Gigabyte 970A-DSP for mining. the Gigabyte is cheaper but it does not have an on-off switch on the board so I have to use a screwdriver head to turn it on. I do not use a case for my 2 rigs.

- on-off switch and reset on the board.
- GPU retention bracket is the slide type, I hate this because a large GPU tends to block the lock so it's hard to maneuver and release it once a card is in place.
Gigabyte 970A DSP3
- 2 PCI express 16x slots.
- 2 PCI express 1x slots.
- no on-off switch on board.
- GPU latch has large tabs which are easier to push down to release the GPU.

I am a Asrock 970EX3 user po, hangang 4 lang ang max.
2slots PCIe 2.0 16x
2slots PCIe 2.0 16x
2slots PCIe 2.0 1x
the other 2slots is not compatible PCI lang sya (legacy which means iba ang slot nya)

pwede n ang 1gb or more flash disk - using Linux Bamt to..
kung using windows nman.. buy the cheapest dahil sabi ko nga di nman tlga kelangan mganda..

@jono, ako intel gamit ko, wala naman akong naging problem so far.. sabi sa ibang forum, ivy brige daw ok para sure na well working lahat ng gpu.

nakabili ako bagong bago pa 2gb ram na ddr3 at sempron na 2.7 ghz as in bago pa to... 600 lang bili ko kasi kinulit ko lang. pwede yun sa board ko AM3+ Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3?

aun mabuti nakatipid ako.. kaso problem ko 2gb lang to.. so need ko padn pla bmli ulit ng isa pang 2gb .. plan ko is ung ni recommend ni sir na USB bootable nlng na os..

yes, dagdagan mo yang ram mo. 4gb kasi requirement ng GPU mismo to work (havent tried 2GB)

Guys may nakapagtry na ba sainyo maglagay ng 1x to 16x na risers sa 16x slot ng motherboard nyo? madedetect ba ng OS yung card mo? may nabasa kasi ako sa isang forum na working ang ganun kahit hindi na ishort yung presence pin ng board. sabi din dun working daw sa 970 extreme4 asrock. any asrock 970 extreme4 owner na nakatry na nito?

@Slide I wont advice shorting or even try shorting the presence pin kasi dun sa nabasa ko natusta daw yung board (i dont know kung anong brand and model ng mobo nun) after ilang minutes/hours but it did work. tinanong ko lang dito kung pwedeng gamitin ung 1x riser sa 16x slot without shorting ung pin kasi may ibang nagtest gumana. anyway, thanks for the input Sir Slide..bibili nlng ako ng 16x to 16x risers..gusto ko sana lahat nlng 1x riser pero hindi pala pwede haha..thanks ulit
