I have had this Apple TV device for some time now and never have had the Netflix app working properly. I was wondering if this community could help me out with this because I am a bit out of ideas now.
What I have done is that I have a normal Netflix account which I am using in my home network with multiple devices and everything else is working fine but this AppleTV device with Netflix app. Netflix app is working fine until the video stream should be starting when it says only "An Error Occurred Loading This Content. Try again later!". The same thing with UTM and XG both.
I have tried the instructions of this thread but no help. Same subnet, same gateway, same DNS but no success. I have no any exotic setup in my firewall pretty much default everything. Some small adjustments but not anything that could block anything important. Everything works.
And please if you have any suggestions put them so that me as a casual user understand what you trying to say. No pro lingo like "put the MASQ on in new host in FQDN and override policy on DNAT user". I have no idea what you talking about :)
Hello Zerry,
you might also search the logs and IPS for suspicious entries in order to find the reason.
If you have the change you might mirror the traffic that goes to the apple TV and look whether you see what is happening.
Eventually some of the advanced firewall settings might help. I don't have netflix. Probably it uses UDP or QUIC and maybe some bulk transfer with with longer pauses. There is some timeout for the stateful UDP "connections". The default is 60. However this is pure guessing but it helped really good with Microsoft Teams.
I just tried again what comes to log of XG when I just power on AppleTV and go directly to Netflix and try to continue watching the last movie I have been watching. Same thing. No stream. And no lines to log. None from that IP in about the same time stamp than the error occurred.
I am ashamed to confess that I do not know what you mean by do I use DPI or Web proxy. I think that I use web proxy because all the lines in Policy are the devault ones and in there are the 2 lines on by default. I haven't touched anything on them.
I have no IP specific lines in Firewall Rules at all and the only line active now is the #Default_Network_Policy. Nothing else. I have stripped all the rules to check out if there is/was something that is causing this. No effect.
I made a new rule to firewall with the highest priority allowing all traffic from that IP to WAN to any destination with any service. In web filtering web policy to allow all and no other selection. I tested with Filtering common web ports enabled and not (web proxy and DPI). With this new rule enabled the Netflix client do not connect to Netflix at all. When I turn off this rule the same old thing Netflix client works fine but the stream do not start. Only the error message.
With trial and error and searching for options and suggestions from internet I finally found the solution to this problem. To me as a not full-time Sophos admin the solution was kinda complicated and demanded a lot of effort to get to know all the little nuances of the XG. AppleTV with Netflix app is now fully working with my XG. Thank you all for suggestions. I am not so sure did I weaken the security a lot but I limited the effects to AppleTV IP only and therefore I rely on Apples' security on this one if something is "leaking".
You know it is/was very annoying when the Netflix clients in Samsung/LG smart TVs, Android cell phones/tablets, Android mediaboxes and Windows10 computers and laptops worked all out-of-the-box without any modifications to XG or apps/clients, and this AppleTV (gen3) Netflix app did not work even thou practically the only difference is the IP address. And still AppleTV Netflix app worked fine with Ubiquiti USG3.
Oh, and for iPhone 15 peoples, the existing two-years free applies. Meaning that on the whole, Apple has deferred this potential-payment-problem decision till 2025. These days, the feature is available in the following countries, for both iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 users.
The core difference with an app like RideWithGPS is that it also has sensor support (even Garmin Varia radar integration), as well as uploads to all the various 3rd party platforms like a head unit (whereas Google Maps will most definitely not upload to Strava).
Two Things:
1-I like the PeakDesign phone holder on the handle bars, good choice!
2-I wish Peloton would allow none Peloton bikes to connect to their system, specifically for their scenic rides. I like to do those rides from time-to-time, but I am not a fan of the bike itself as I prefer to ride my Cannondale on my Wahoo.
Most other communicators (EPIRB/PLB, 911 call on a cell phone) will pass through an emergency call without any other charges, so long as the device functions. I think where Garmin and others in the satellite device arena are making their money is non-emergency check-ins and tracking, as well as messaging, rather than on a cost per emergency call.
I doubt it will ever happen, but it would be interesting if NordicTrack finally feels enough pressure to add Netflix to its platform after years of users having to use all kinds of workarounds to get it working.
Hi Ray, on my peloton bike+ (UK based) I only see the Disney App in the Beta Entertainment function. Is there a way of getting access to more providers or is all pushed depending on your country etc? There is the netflix app hidden away in the Apps area but there is no ride data displayed in a sidebar so pretty useless. Anyone else had similar experiences?

Since day 1 of the Decos, on my Apple TVs, Disney+, Netflix, Apple Music, and Siri, stop functioning after around 10 minutes of streaming. A reboot of the Apple TV or the access point resolves the issue for another 10 minutes of viewing time. Meanwhile, even after those applications become non-functional, I can still stream youtube, youtube TV, and plex content in UHD without any issue.
Hello, could you please check some basic info and we will try to figure it out?
1. Please confirm the current network topology/layout, how are the 3 X60s connected? As you mentioned already, the main X60 works as a router, how about the modem, is it in bridge mode? Who is your ISP?
2. Are the Apple TVs connected to the X60 with Ethernet cables or via Wi-Fi? If they are connected to Wi-Fi, 2.4GHz, or 5GHz? What if you connect one to the main X60 directly and confirm again if there is still an issue?
3. What is the model number of your old access point? What if you change the X60 to AP mode?
2-I have checked both 2.4GHz and 5GHz and problems persist. I have attempted in both AP mode (with another router) as well as router mode and the problem persists. I have tried various iterations of disabling fast roaming as well. The problem does not appear to persist if I connect the apple TV to one of the x60 devices with an ethernet cord.
3-As I mentioned, I have access to a variety of access points including models from ubiquiti, aruba, asus, and netgear, and when those APs are in place on my network, the Apple TVs do not have any issues with streaming. (I should stress, in my current environment, none of that hardware is in use, but i have rotated them in and out for testing purposes.) The X60s are the variable that, when used, cause issues. The network topology is as follows: Fiber gateway>>X60 (Router)>> Apple TV. There is no other equipment on the network to interfere.

@WantFastWifi , @TP-Link_Deco I am having the exact same issue with my set of three Deco X60 units for about 2 months. I had the M9 Plus before this and was working well. I wanted to support faster speeds with the fiber optic internet I have. I replaced them with the X60 and it started happening. It seemed like it would always happen when I was close to one specific X60 unit.
I could be watching Netflix or Hulu or Disney+ and then suddenly it would stop, and just give a spinning circle of death and would not play anymore. I could turn off the WiFi on the iPad, then turn it back on to temporarily fix this but it would happen again. It would happen with multiple different devices. My daughter complained about the problem also as soon as I switched.
Well, I have had enough of this and today I took out all the X60 units and put back the M9. I just could not stand for this anymore. I should hope TP-Link can have better quality than this in the future.
@TP-Link_Deco Sorry I do not remember what the WAN IP address was with the X60. Also, I do not have an Apple TV device. It only was happening with wireless devices like an iPad and phones. They were connected to the 5GHz network and were less than 10 feet away from the X60.
Watching videos from a computer connected to ethernet worked just fine. You had said earlier that an engineer would contact me about the problems, but no one ever did. I checked the spam folders also...
2. When Netflix or Hulu or Disney+ on the iPhone/iPad stops, are you moving around and switching to different Deco nodes? How about other applications or streaming the iPhone, are they still working fine?
