Photostory deluxe from MAGIX is the perfect tool for easily creating impressive slideshows. It allows you to enhance your images with one-click image editing, integrate videos, and add music, sound effects and animated travel routes.
I made a slide show that is about 12 minutes long, includes music files and some animation effects. I am trying to burn multiple copies for family members. I have burned 12 copies successfully but it seems with each DVD burned I get the above error message more frequently. I have already burned several copies today and tested them and they work fine. For some strange reason I get that error now most of the time.
I have tried exiting and restarting the program a few times. Sometimes that works and it will successfully burn a DVD. Mostly now I get the error message. I have even tried restarting the computer, which made a difference on one occasion.
I really can't answer the question as to why the burning failed for some discs and not for others but one immediate question arises: what brand of blank discs are you using? Unfortunately, not all discs are "created equal" and, from what you write, it would suggest there is at at least some degree of incompatibility between the discs and your burner. I doubt the problem is with PS itself, though it is not impossible, clearly.
To check whether PS is "responsible" I would suggest creating an .iso file, rather than trying to burn direct to DVD. This file is a "disc image" and, once created, will allow you to burn as many copies of your disc as you wish without needing to open PS each time!
Then, using any burning software of your choice (the free ImgBurn is ideal for this) you can create DVD copies of your slideshow. If you still experience failures this clearly points to some level of incompatibility between the discs you are using and your external burner.
Thank you for the quick response. I am using Verbatim DVD-R discs. However, the encoding error comes before even starting the burning process. In fact the disc is still usable after the attempted burn.
There is no need to use the program to burn discs one at a time - use a program like Nero Burning Rom or ImgBurn to duplicate the first disc - you can specify how many copies you want and just feed the burner with discs .
Thank you for that advice! Are you suggesting I just burn from the original disc to other discs? Or do I save that first disc created with Photostory in a specific format to use to burn to other DVDs?
@emmrecs So I tried as you suggested to create the movie as an .iso file. It gave me the same image creation error 84000fb4. I wondered maybe if the slideshow itself had been corrupted or changed so I tried to burn a different file as an iso and got the same error.
If by original disc you mean the first successful burn to disc, then yes - I have a slightly different method - the first burn is done to a rewritable disc, DVD-RW (DVD) or BD-RE (Blu-ray), and tested - I often find there is a small error or an improvement could be made.
After much difficulty i have created a 58 min project using magix photostory deluxe 2023. It includes jpg photos and camera video clips (MOV and mp4). It took 5 tries to get it to export- kept freezing on transitions between video clip and still image. I think I solved that BUT now the real problem is, when i attempt to burn the working project (works completely on photostory software), only a quarter of the project is on the dvd!!! I have erased the other faulty projects from my computer, I have tried each of the choices for use and enable and wasted 4+ discs. I cant figure out how to burn my video. The bluray dvd has enough Gb. Can anyone help me? Magix is IMPOSSIBLE to contact for help. ann
thank you for trying. the reason i bought this software was it was supposed to be user friendly. i am not a techie and in the past this software has easily made movies for me with my photos. but this time i tried to use video clips hence the problems. I attempted to do as you said and got as far as trying to find the users folder. nothing exists. the folder is empty if i even found the correct one. and after scanning the rest of your instructions i am completely confused. since the video i created plays on the magix photostory software why cant it be burned to a dvd? the file size isnt too big. the export worked.1/4 of it burns nicely and then it says it is finished but the whole thing is not there. it is as if the first attempt at exporting , when some of the videos locked up and would not continue on to the next jpg is the file that is being burned. i thought i erased or replaced those files. I am so worried that i will have to give up using this software or hiring some youngster to figure it out. there should be a simpler explanation.
Can you post a screenshot of the full length of the timeline as shown in the example below, you will be in Timeline mode when the indicated option shows Storyboard - a little confusing however that indicate the timeline view you will go to when clicked, the + - buttons to the left will alter the zoom level.
What is the video format you are importing into photostory? To help with this download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips causing the issue and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.
Thank you for your efforts John. I am a senior citizen born with out the computer gene, lol. I tried my best to follow your instructions. Here is a screen shot of the info i get when i go to the user that you suggest. the top files are empty
I took a screen shot of the video project but the whole thing is not on the screen. There are 321 pictures. Of that there are less than 20 video clips and it is 58 min long. all video clips are less than 2 min and most are less than a min.
I did not do your last bit about the video format. It looks complicated and i have little time, at present. Some of the videos are from my phone and are mp4s. Most of the videos are from my nikon camera and are MOV files. At this point the issue of the project locking up at a transition from video to still photo has been solved and the whole project plays on the software, smoothly and in its entirety. It has exported in its entirety. Now the problem is burning. the project burns only partially even though there is plenty of space on the dvd. I have tried every option presented to me when burning; 00000.m2ts and 00001.m2ts and do i want to use all or enable all etc. But it stops at the same place each time. I have a sneaking suspicion that it is burning the first version I exported which locked up. It took 5 exports before I solved the problem. I thought I deleted those exports so they would not be confused with the final product. hmmmmm
i have already tried that 2 times with no success. i found that info in the manual. but to be sure i tried all the choices. nothing worked. what about the 00000.m2ts and 00001.m2ts?? should i say no to those?
here is a shocker. i found something on the web that says photostory imports MOV files but doesnt export them. could that be the problem? if so the Magix people lied to me when i asked if i could use MOV files in my photostory projects. what are your thoughts?
Once in timeline mode you should then be able to locate any stray images/video which should not be there as shown in the video, there was a large gap between what should be the end of the video and where the real end was.
I also looked over time line mode and did not see any gaps. i will look again. would those gaps be obvious? all i saw were the Xs between the images i posted. How would i get rid of any "stray images" if i found them?
