Regarding Google Crush

Hello ,

                I would like to make open-source contribution to Google-Crush codebase ,but I am new to Open-Source contribution. So it would be great if you  answer our questions related to Google-Crush

Q1. What is the idea behind Google-Crush? In what languages is the code written ? Could you elaborate on how its related to shell(command-line)?

Q 2. Is it one of the products that can participate in GSOC -2014 ?

Q 3. Can a novice like me try hands on it and make sufficient contribution to  Google-Crush 's Open Source community or is the competition for Google-Crush so high that people like me couldn't contribute much ? 

Q 4. How is Google related to this product i.e., Google-Crush ? Is Google the mentoring organisation in GSOC for this software product ? If not, what is the organisation for the open source development of this software ?
