Just documenting here that the API documentation is missing from the help/API page as well as the groups here. The only copy of documentation seems to be at  https://gist.github.com/1226556, which might be an old cached copy. Could someone please take a look?

Thanks,
Shankar

Hi Shankar,

That snippet is the most recent documentation we have on the API. We'll eventually put up a copy of it along with more concise information directly on the crunchbase.com site.

Thanks Anthony! Perhaps you would be able to help me out here:

I have a question on multi-language support for CrunchBase data.

We are a group of bloggers setting up a Tech Blog in Tamil language. We would love to leverage the great data available in CrunchBase to refer to Company and People information as widgets. Unfortunately, since our blog is in Tamil language, we would also need to display this additional info in Tamil language.

Now, we are prepared to translate the information that is present in CrunchBase, on a need basis, and use it, adhering to any applicable licensing/policy definitions. The best-case scenario would be to input the translated information into CrunchBase database itself, if there is multi-language support in CrunchBase, and use it from there through the widget/API.

I understand there is very little value in holding information in CrunchBase in a single foreign language, but on the other hand, I believe there is long-term value in creating a generic multi-language platform for CrunchBase.

I tried reaching out to the webmaster regarding this through email, but haven't received any response. I was wondering if you would be able to direct to any contact who might be interested in talking about this.

Thanks in advance!
Shankar

Hi Shankar,

We currently don't support foreign languages on CrunchBase. You may translate and host your own database that uses our information but be sure to include some reference to the CrunchBase property site. Perhaps in the future this will be a viable investment. Will keep in touch.

Thanks,

I appreciate such a quick response!

Thanks for letting us utilize the information present in CrunchBase.
As you have suggested, we are considering building our own database
for this information. We will ensure that CrunchBase is credited and
referred to in every unit of information that we translate and use.

Thanks!
Shankar
