We built a series of widgets that retrieve and analyze live CrunchBase
API data, and visualize results as interactive flash charts.
The widgets can run anywhere – inside iGoogle, on a blog, embedded
inside web applications, etc. They even run nicely on the iPhone
Safari browser.
Try/get the apps here, they're free:

One app analyzes funding and burn rate for companies listed on
CrunchBase. It also calculates an estimated cash out date based on
historic burn.
Another app analyzes the investment profile of VCs listed on
CrunchBase. It shows distribution of investments by type of round, to
see if the VC is a typical early stage or late stage investor. And
distribution of investments by size of round, so see if the VC
typically participates in large or small funding rounds.
The model logic behind the apps is accessible for any youcalc user to
copy, modify, and build other versions – zero coding required. We even
added the CrunchBase API as a standard drag-and-drop data source in
our modeling tool (youcalc builder) so it’s easy for youcalc users to
build other analytics apps on the CrunchBase API.
Another nice little feature is that you can add any number of apps to
iGoogle – so if you added the same CrunchBase app twice to your
iGoogle, you could easily compare/benchmark to companies or two VCs
against each other:
