I'm attempting to run Viele in interactive mode on my linux server. But
after entering the first query value for the extract, everything just stops.
I've pasted what it looks like below. After entering the ListingPrice for
the extract's query, I push 'Enter' and nothing happens; the cursor just
goes to the next line and hangs there. This happens both when I put a value
in for the query field and when I leave it blank. Just FYI-- I've used
interactive mode successfully with version 0.9 on both my Windows machine
and Linux. However neither 1.0 or 1.1 have worked in interactive mode (on
Windows or Linux).
Any ideas? If you need clarification, let me know. Thanks in advance!

Ross,

Probably (well more than that) a bug. Are you using the BETA3 build of
Version 1.1? Not that it will work any better, just so that I'm working with
the same code base :)

I found it (I think). It will appear in svn shortly. Thanks for finding this
one.

Is there a password for the SVN? Won't let me update without one?

It does. When you set up the EXTRACT, it should verify this. You can
toggle the setting for an existing EXTRACT too.

I don't think so unless the images have the names as they do via RETS.
Sorry I can't be more concrete on thiis.

It is what will happen. If you keep a status flag in your database and
base your query on one of the date fields, VieleRETS will only change
the status. The question is does your server have a field like "last
date changed"? As you have noted below, you will be managing a large
database.

Alternatively, if you set up a seperate table for RETS data only,
VieleRETS can create a new table for each execution. I haven't tested
this approach extensively, but if you set the TARGET to AUTO_CREATE, the
table will be destoyed and recreated each time, leaving you with only
listings that came from the query. This can be a problem on updates,
because VieleRETS will look in the destroyed table, find nothing and
assume there is nothing to update.

Yup; using beta3.
Also a few more questions....
How do I go about bypassing the proxy when using a Rapattoni server? I
noticed when doing the configuration, a message comes up that says 'the
connection I'm using doesn't have a media server, so it's not going to use
one'. Does that message mean that it's bypassing the proxy?

Another thing...
For the initial download of the listings from the RETS server, I'd like to
get the photos from an FTP zip file rapattoni provides. Then for all
subsequent listing updates, use Viele to get the photos.
It just takes too long to get 12,000+ photos via RETS for the initial
download. So my question is, would this work? If I setup Viele, download
all listing data via Viele (sans photos), then download the 12,000 photos
via FTP zip file, and put the photos in the 'images' folder that Viele uses.
I would then have all of the listing data and all of the images. Then for
the updates , use Viele's slick new 'update' feature. Would that work?

Which leads to the last question...
If my initial download of listings into my database uses a query like
(MLNumber=0+),(Status=|A) to get all of the active listings, what happens
to the sold/pending/cancelled/expired listings when I do an update? For
example, listing number 206123 is downloaded today because it is an active
listing. Tonight, the house gets sold, thus is changed to 'sold' status.
So tomorrow, I have Viele download the active listings to my database (by

using the 'only load updates' feature). Listing number 206123 is no longer
'active', so it doesn't get downloaded by Viele; however, it's still in MY
database and marked as active, because Viele didn't mess with listing number
206123 because it's not an 'active' listing because Viele was only told to
download the active listings.
So the problem here is that I'm going to end up with the sold (and
expi red/cancelled/fell-thru/etc) listings still in my database because Viele

only updates the listings marked as 'active' on the RETS server.
Does this make sense?
Is this what is going to happen?

One solution that I know would take of the problem would be just to download
ALL listings from the RETS server; all of the sold, active, cancelled, etc
listings. Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to work because that
means I would have to keep about 150,000 listings in the database; something
I REALLY don't want to do.

Any input?

Thanks a million...
