How to update without losing extensions, bookmarks, etc.?

Running Mac OSX and portable Chromium 38.0.2125.122 (290379)

I just downloaded installer for latest version, Chromium_OSX_43.0.2357.130

But my current running version has customized, locally-stored "developer" extensions, not to mention all my bookmarks and other saved data.

Most of this portable data is stored inside the app ("Show package contents") -- SO how can I update the app to the latest version without throwing away all my data and history?

We do not provide Mac OS X releases. Whatever you've got, you didn't get it from here.
