Good afternoon, Mr. Schrader,
I am writing with an update regarding the Acme Visible Records Site and upcoming activities. As always, we would be most appreciative if you would share the information.
Best regards,
Sarah
In accordance with the Hazardous Waste Management Permit for Site-Wide Corrective Action, Wilson Jones Company (WJC) is conducting the annual groundwater and surface water sampling November 10-19, 2021. The results of this sampling event will be provided in a report to VDEQ no later than August 2022.
WJC is also proceeding with groundwater corrective action activities. A Groundwater Corrective Action Design has been submitted to VDEQ. The following is a brief summary of the activities to be conducted in the next 6-8 months.
- Initial well installation and pilot study—WJC will install two injection wells on the north side of the property the week of November 15, 2021. The wells will be installed to facilitate the completion of a pilot study for the injection of chemical oxidants which will treat the chlorinated solvent impacts in groundwater at the facility.
- A pilot test consisting of the injection of chemical oxidants into the newly installed injection wells is anticipated to be completed by the middle of December 2021. The injection consists of mixing chemical oxidant and injecting the solution into the groundwater.
- Upon completion of the pilot study, additional injection wells will be installed in order to implement full scale corrective action. This activity may occur between December 2021 and February 2022. The schedule may be modified based on subcontractor availability and weather. Following well installation, full scale injections will be conducted.
- Groundwater corrective action activities are anticipated to take 6 months to complete and long-term monitoring will be conducted thereafter to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment.
Additional notification will be provided when schedules of activities are finalized.
