Taken yesterday, 6 April 2025 with my Lunt 60ha and best 25% of 1000 frames using a ZWO asi178 mono. Processed in Autostakkert 4 and Pixinsight Solar Toolbox.
The surface generally shows the magnetic field lines of the plasma, with sunspots 4054, 4048, 4046, left to right. The detail comes from a crop of the whole disk image.
Each of the main elements of 4054, for example, is wider than the diameter of the Earth. 4048 as a whole is wider than Jupiter, (based on the scales on a NASA SOHO image).
There's something of a three dimensional effect in the image. This isn't the result of my processing as far as I know, and maybe it's just an optical illusion due to contrast of light and dark shades.
