Magnetic field lines on the Sun conspired by chance to form a solar surface asterism just after 11am this morning. Sunpots 4444 and especially the right hand one, 4447, obliged. It seemed almost as hot down here as it is up there. The camera sensor was running at 46° and the session was very quick, for both our sakes.

Lunt 60 Ha telescope, Powermate 2.5x, ZWO asi178 mono. Gain 110, each exposure 9.9 milliseconds, (~ 1/100th of a second). Capture of 2000 frames with Sharpcap 4. Frame stacking in Autostakkert, best 10%. Deconvolution and curves in IMPPG, and colourisation in CS2. All of these are freeware.

Great to see the solar images coming whilst the sun is definitely shining! Re the asterism, would there be a plume of gas coming out of the sun linking the two sunspots?
Cheers
