The image of Messier Messier 51captured using a combination of equipment:

- HEQ5 mount for stability and tracking
- 714mm Horizon duplet refractor for capturing the cluster's light
- ZWO 294asi color camera for imaging
- L-Pro filter to enhance the image quality
- Guiding system to ensure accurate tracking over the long exposure period

The image was created by combining multiple 300 second exposures over a 6-hour integration period, and then processed in StarTools.
It was a pretty good night. Hope you like it.

Hi Kevin

That’s a great image of this spectacular target. Lovely colours and good definition picking out the intricate detail in this object and the gas clouds between M51 and its companion galaxy NGC 5195. As a bonus you’ve also managed to capture another background galaxy, IC 4263, which is always nice to see in images of the Whirlpool.

Well done!

Thank you Tim
Some one said the galaxy looks like its floating in space,  is the impression he had.
