Mars came within its closest encounter just a few degrees away from the moon last night. Best seen with the eyeball but this is a single 1/6 second back garden shot at iso 3200 using focal length 75mm on a zoom lens and Sony α3000, the best of exposure alternatives to deal with a bright and relatively dim object.
Processing was with Photoshop using a layer mask to prevent further over exposure of the Moon, curves to then lighten the background, and hue saturation to up the colour for Mars.

Hello James, I have to admit I wasn’t sure where to find Mars. Is it
the very red looking 'star' top centre?
