It is with great regret that former chairman of Croydon Astronomical Society, John Murrell, sadly passed away on 25 June 2022, after a short illness.

His funeral will be taking place on 29 July at:

Friday 29 July at 10.30

Likewise I’m very sorry to hear this news. John’s knowledge of and enthusiasm for astronomy really encouraged me when I first joined CAS.

Sorry to hear that news. The only time I met him was at the CAS 50th
anniversary in 2006, but did exchange a few emails with him in the past.
He was a very knowledgeable chap.

I am sorry to hear this news. I worked with John on the CAS committee for many years and regarded him as a friend. Since leaving CAS I occasionally saw John at RAS meetings until COVID changed things.  He will be missed by us all.
