When should be our next meeting? Should we continue our Monday meetings? (Today's will be tough for me.)

Hi all, I was not sure if we were meeting today and made another
appointment. What do we think are the next steps for this project? Are
there any promising directions to follow up on? I am supervising a
couple of master's students this summer so my time for side projects
will be fairly limited.

I think there are some good next steps to try. We should re-establish the recurring meeting. How about if we keep it the same (biweekly), starting again this coming Monday at 2pm EDT?

Prompt type aside, were any of the stories people wrote actually interesting/good? Did the crowd have clear favorites of each others' work? Or no? Or did we find that the crowd just produced fairly mediocre stories regardless of how it's set up?

What are people's take-aways/impressions from this last major experiment? What does it make you want to question next?

My take on things is that the mturk chains still aren't deep enough. I don't expect every turker to be a master story creator, but maybe if they're given an inspiring prompt from another turker [maybe just knowing its from another turker is interesting to them] and get to riff off that idea somehow, they are able to be more creative. And maybe a really good story could come out of turning the turk-crank a bunch of times, more than twice.

Kathleen, everything okay? What happened to you the week of the deadline?

As others have mentioned, I think we need to determine if we saw anything interesting worth pursuing. Or, stepping back, if an experimental approach is the most appropriate way to get at whatever we're interested in.

If there are too many of us trying to pull the project in slightly different directions, I'm also happy to step away and let others complete something. We can discuss concrete next steps and venues.
