Dear Su Lab Team Members,

Firstly, apologies for the really late e-mail, unfortunately I was doing an internship during the earlier stages of GSoC and I could only manage look up organizations.

Secondly, I would like to point out that I am addressing your organization because from all of the organizations I looked up (the ones containing java as a tag, I know that in your case it is javascript but I believe I have a very good proposition), The Scripps Research Institute was the only one to have it's team members so excited about every post in the organization's Google Group and to turn their attention to every relevant question all so inquisitively. Furthermore, you have addressed the questions in the Google Group as a team, you have not restricted yourselves to individual and separate replies as most organizations. Finally, you seem like the friendliest and most outward looking team in GSoC, ready to take on a challenge that differs from their proposals, of course adding on to them in value.

For the above reasons, I sent this e-mail to every member of the team I could, to make it easier for you when you come across this idea.

On the subject, my idea is to make an Android Application in Java for the already existing Dizeez App. I am aware of the fact that there is no "java" tag in your organization details for GSoC; however, I believe that this idea has so much potential, that it could give rise to more than one projects next year.

For example, upon full completion, which of course will probably not happen by the end of this summer, the app can be bundled with facebook, twitter, etc. so results and challenges can be shared through the app.

Furthermore, I believe that an Android app would become more popular than a facebook game as of the rising of mobile technologies. The game could be played offline while the sharing features have not been added, and then later results could be shared on social networks. Moreover, even after the sharing features have been added the game could still be played offline which will give the game more popularity than it just being on facebook.

I believe I can provide the building blocks for the beginning of this project. As an achievable goal for the project for this summer, I consider getting the game running with all the possible disease areas and protein families (of course leaving the user to choose their preferences as the original game), without game feedback (although for some reason the feedback option did not work for me on the original site), leaderboards, or social network sharing capabilities.

I wrote this e-mail to you just to give you a heads up on my proposal as I did not get a chance to discuss it with you prior the application process. I will of course be providing more details in my original proposal.

I truly hope you consider my proposal, although you do not have the "java" tag in your organization profile in GSoC, as I really believe that this proposal provides a new (to the current project ideas) and interesting way of crowdsourcing your game (thus it's ideas) and I believe that will be a great addition to your list of open source projects, opening doors to even more ideas.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely yours,
Vasil
