Dear all,
We would like to invite you to participate in CrowdCamp, a one-day hybrid hack-a-thon for researchers and practitioners with interests in crowdsourcing, human computation, collective intelligence, and AI, to be held at HCOMP 2024 (October 16–19, 2024, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania).
The focus of CrowdCamp is on creating a first prototype, study design, defining an idea for a new algorithm, a pilot study, or something else entirely within the workshop itself. Prior CrowdCamp projects have resulted in top-tier conference publications, blog posts, and ongoing research. As the theme for this year’s CrowdCamp, we will focus on the theme “Responsible Crowd Work for Better AI.” We leave this up to participants to decide how to interpret this theme. Projects could involve topics such as mitigating bias in the crowd work pipeline, facilitating greater inclusion and designing safer work practices for crowd workers, and developing novel systems for more efficient use of crowd labor. Projects may include generative AI in their solution, though it is by no means a requirement.
Call for Participation
We invite students, faculty,
and industry researchers to participate, from social scientists to programmers,
ethnographers to designers, and anyone else interested.
How to Apply: We ask that you complete the CrowdCamp 2024

asks for 1) a project idea, 2) your research interests and experience, 3) your
ideal CrowdCamp partner(s), and 4) your contact information.
