Has anyone ever heard of buying live trees in a pot and recycling them back after xmas?  I read of a service that did this last year....

What a great idea!

I've always thought of planting outdoors, but that can be hard for the
tree in cold climates as it messes with the tree's growing cycle if
it's warm indoors for too long. It also requires hole digging and
mulch prep in the fall, so think ahead.

It seems they're ahead on the West Coast, and even plant the trees in
needed watershed areas.... having trouble locating similar for NY.
