Back in the day Hyde Park was and still is the residential, faith-base
community, and some businesses.
Schools: Shannon Elementary and Hyde Park Elementary. The Hyde Park
site is now the Hollywood and Binghampton Post Office. The post office
originally was located in Hollywood at Chelsea and Bryan street.
One theater: Hyde Park Theater on Chelsea at University. Hyde Park had
the only public park with a pool…Gooch Park (donated by Mr. Gooch.)

Galloway Kindergarten and Nursery (late 40’s through the 50s)
One black cab stand…Friendly Cab at Springdale and Hyde Park.

Back in the day Hollywood was predominately white. It was and still is
a commercial, agricultural and highway industrial district with some
homes.
One school: Hollywood School (now a charter school)
One theater: The Hollywood Theater
Hollywood Community Center
Many shops on Chelsea and Hollywood
2 Hardware stores (Hubbard and Hollywood)
Bank (National Bank of Commerce)
Few churches (all white) (Back in the day)
Populated by poor whites and poor Jews (They were not wealthy.)

Buehler. Consider interviewing the whites (Germans and Jews) who used
live in the area.
Trolley ran up and down Chelsea. The turnaround was Short Chelsea at
Hollywood and Chelsea.
