I plan on being there on Thursday, so let me know how I can help with the dinner.  Did we settle on what we were making for them?

Also, I have a few of Lucas' books that I was going to loan them because I think they would be able to understand them and read them to their own kids.  So if there is time, maybe I could read through each of them once so they can hear it.

Thanks Lindsay. Lets get a full head count. Who else can make it?

We talked about doing Mexican food. Like fresh salsa and simple tacos and to make sure we have fresh fruits and vegetables. Any other meal suggestions.

Thanks.
Steven

I'm planning on being there. I've got fresh pork, onion, cilantro, and lime all ready to go. (The pork will slow-cook all day Thursday.) I was also planning on getting some green salsa and cooking some corn tortillas beforehand.

Hi Everyone!

My family is coming from Japan on Thursday for my graduation so I can't make it. I'm sorry. If there are any ingredients I can get for you guys let me know. I hope that this week's lesson and the dinner will go well:)

That sounds good!  I could pick up some corn tortillas if that would help, and bring some fresh fruit too.

Fruits and/or vegetables would be great. Horchata would be awesome. Or some other sort of beverage. I'm bringing:
  • carnitas (pork)
  • corn tortillas
  • onion, cilantro, lime
  • salsa verde
  • guacamole

Orale Nathan! I won't be able to make it. I have a conference that I
am attending. If you want Horchata there is a market on 2904
Independence Ave, Kansas City, MO 64124 called Abarrotes Mi Familia.
They have all the refrescos (horchata, jamica, tamarindo, jarritos,
etc) you want for this awesome latino meal. I hope it all goes well.

Sounds Great!  To summarize:

  • Thursday, 6pm.
  • Nathan - carnitas (pork), corn tortillas, onion, cilantro, lime, salsa verde, guacamole
  • Lindsay - tortillas and fresh fruit.
  • Steven - utensils, plates, drinks
  • English - we can talk about food using a few key phrases, "what are you eating?"  "can you pass the___, please?"  ....with vocab about food & utensils.
  • Before we go, lets read a book, from Lindsay (a sentence per person?) and suggest that they can practice reading too.

Hey folks,
I just wanted to share a resource concerning Karen. I found this site
and have been trying to use what I learn with patients who only speak
Karen at TMC. I haven't made anyone made yet.

Lindsay, are you bringing tortilla chips? I have tortillas for the tacos, but we'll need chips for the guacamole.
