# I_SUPPORT_THE_SCRAPPING_OF_THE_SENATE

I am a concerned Nigerian and a Civil Society and a Social Media Activist, I believe that Nigeria will be great again if Citizens set the agenda for sustainable development of the Country.

Having considered the enormous financial cost to my Nation of Running a two chamber National Assembly and fully aware that many fellow Nigerians struggle to eat daily talk less of having the means to send their children to school or be able to pay for a decent accommodation or health care services. Aware that employment opportunities are scarce to the teeming number of Nigerian graduates. Despite the state of our nation, credible reports have it that each of our Senators go home with a total package running up to the sum of N50 Million per month excluding the constituency project they execute running into millions of naira. Comparatively, the salaries of many Civil Servants are so low and practically useless due to the recession and the devaluation of the naira yet the government can hardly afford the review of the Minimum wage. Many public and private sector workers who retire after several years of meritorious service to the nation are hardly paid their gratuity or pensions no matter how small the monies are.

From the foregoing, I make bold to say that our upper legislative chamber no longer serve any useful purpose to the welfare of the Nigerian Citizens  and has become a huge liability to the growth and progress of our Nation. The Chamber is mostly engage in chasing shadows, settling political scores,  defecting from one party to another while they hardly accomplish their basic function within the set time.

I foresee a situation where 150,000 other civil society/ social media activist across Nigeria will join me in signing a petition for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to immediately call a Referendum for the Scrapping of the Senate before the Next General Election and all the powers of the senate transferred to the House of Representatives with an additional 36 members from each of the 36 states of the federation.

PLEASE RESHARE THIS POST/EMAIL EVERY DAY FOR THE NEXT ONE MONTH ON SOCIAL MEDIA OR EMAIL TO REACH AS MANY CIVIL SOCIETY/SOCIAL MEDIA ACTIVIST AS POSSIBLE And if you are interested in signing the petition, drop your Number/Email/Local Government of Residence here for compilation and information on where you can sign the Petition.

LET US SAVE OUR DEMOCRACY AND ECONOMY FROM FURTHER EXPLOITATION AT THE EXPENSE OF THE PEOPLE.

JOIN THE PETITION FOR A REFERENDUM NOW!!!!!!

IF SENEGAL CAN DO IT SO CAN WE! GOD BLESS NIGERIA.
