I suddenly started facing issues with my webcam on my hp spectre. It showed a blank screen. So I uninstalled the current drivers on it and downloaded new drivers from -en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-spectre-13-ap0000-x360-convertible-pc/...

This is the same driver which I had downloaded before. Anyways I downloaded this again and tried and when I run HPsetup.exe file on the driver folder nothing happens. A program opens and closes really fast. I do not have trouble downloading the driver, it's the installation that I'm facing issue with.

Certain pixels could be stuck and look like green, red, or black dots on the screen. One option to fix this is to take a soft cloth and gently rub around the stuck pixel in a circular motion, which could lighten up the dead pixel. Another option is to check if your device is still under warranty. If not, you can replace the display assembly yourself using the guide here.

If updating the driver does not resolve the issue and you cannot get the camera to work on any application, then you may need to replace the camera. The camera is a part of the display assembly so you will have to replace the whole display.

If your charging adapter is plugged in, and the light on the adapter is on, ensure the adapter is connected to the laptop. If your device does not last long after being unplugged from the charging adapter or only powers up when the charging adapter is plugged in, then it is likely your battery needs to be replaced.

If your computer died and will not respond to anything, it is most likely due to a dead motherboard. This is the heart of the PC and the PC will not work if your motherboard is dead. First you should check if the device is under warranty. If the device is under warranty, speak with HP and they will replace the hardware for you. If the device is not under warranty, follow this motherboard replacement guide.

If the computer is consistently crashing or or creating loud sounds when accessing data, you could be experiencing hard drive failure. We recommend finding an external hard drive or website to upload your data onto. Next follow this guide to replace the SSD.

I encountered a similar webcam issue with the Ubuntu 18.04 distribution that was installed in an Acer notebook and posted a similar question 2 months ago. That notebook used a Webcam by Realtek Semiconductor Corp. I found that it is not a recognized USB Video Class Linux device. As such, this incompatability resulted in the cheese app giving a blank screen like what you have shown.

Either case, they do not appear to be a USB Video Class Linux device too. If so, uvcvideo would not be able to initialize it and that is why the cheese app appeared blank as is shown in your screenshot.

Check your userid is in the "video" group. I have an HP laptop with the same camera, and as far as I know, it's using standard "uvcvideo" driver module. But you can't use it from users not in the video group.

V4K requires software to be installed on your computer or laptop in order to be turned on. We recommend you download and install our software, Visualizer. It is completely free to download and use. You can find download and find more information about Visualizer here: _visualizer

You can also use any third-party software that has access to UVC cameras, such as Skype, FaceTime, Microsoft Camera and OBS.

Once your software of choice is opened and your V4K plugged into a USB port, you will need to select the camera in your software's respective 'select device' menu. In Visualizer, it is located on the top of the left toolbar. Click the camera icon and you can select V4K under the 'Select Camera' drop-down menu.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact our support team at c...@ipevo.com

No. V4K was designed to work with our new software, IPEVO Visualizer. Similar to Presenter, Visualizer is completely free to download and will provide you with much of the same features as Presenter, but with a refreshed look! For more information about Visualizer, please click on the following link:

You do not need to install any driver to use V4K as a generic webcam. V4K uses a UVC (USB Video Class) driver that is available by default in your operating system. V4K, however, does require software in order to work. You may download and install our free software, Visualizer, or any other third-party app that supports UVC cameras. You can find more information about and download our software here:

You can scan for driver updates automatically and install them manually with the free version of the HP Camera Driver Update Utility, or complete all necessary driver updates automatically using the premium version.

Click the Update button next to your driver. The correct version will be downloaded and installed automatically. Or, you can click the Update All button at the bottom to automatically download and install the correct version of all the drivers that are missing or out-of-date on your system.

To find the latest driver, including Windows 11 drivers, choose from our list of most popular HP Camera downloads or search our driver archive for the driver that fits your specific HP camera model and your PC's operating system.

After downloading your driver update, you will need to install it. Driver updates come in a variety of file formats with different file extensions. For example, you may have downloaded an EXE, INF, ZIP, or SYS file. Each file type has a slightly different installation procedure to follow. Visit our Driver Support Page to watch helpful step-by-step videos on how to install drivers based on their file extension.

Can't find the camera driver in Device Manager on your device? If so, the problem could be either software-related or a camera malfunction. Don't fret, though; it's easy to fix. This guide will explain why the camera driver may disappear from your Device Manager and how to fix it.

If the camera driver doesn't appear in the Device Manager, ensure it's not hidden and that the camera isn't disabled. If that isn't the case, install camera drivers manually, reset the camera, run the camera troubleshooter, and run Windows built-in scans. If these fixes fail, you should manually add the hardware or reset your computer.

The Device Manager gives users an option to hide devices. Once you hide them, these devices disappear from the Device Manager. Therefore, if you don't see the Camera device, it might have been hidden by mistake. To make sure that's not the case or to unhide the device if it has been hidden, follow these steps:

There is a built-in Camera troubleshooter on Windows that can help you identify and fix camera-related problems. Therefore, running the troubleshooter may also resolve this issue. Follow these steps to run it:

Make sure corrupt system files are not causing the problem. To rule out this possibility, you need to run a few scans, such as SFC, DISM, and CHKDSK. If you have never performed these scans before, our guide on repairing corrupt files with Windows built-in tools explains how to run them. So, run these scans before moving on.

When a driver gets corrupt, or you mistakenly uninstall it, Windows is supposed to automatically reinstall it when you restart the computer. If the camera driver is not appearing in Device Manager after restarting the computer, you should manually install it.

To do that, go to your laptop manufacturer's website, for instance, HP, Lenovo, Dell, etc., search for the latest camera driver, and download it. Once you have downloaded the driver, follow the on-screen instructions to install it, just like any other driver or program.

For the Camera app to function, it must have permission to access your device's camera. If this permission is disabled, the camera application may not even launch, causing unexpected problems. To ensure permission restrictions aren't causing this issue as well, ensure this permission is enabled.

If you've modified the settings for the camera app recently and are experiencing the issue under discussion afterward, reset the app. You won't lose any data by resetting the camera app, but it will revert all customizations you've made. Therefore, you will need to customize the app from scratch.

The Device Manager allows users to manually add devices that aren't detected automatically by the system. So, in the next step, add the camera device to Device Manager via the Add Hardware wizard. This wizard lets you install the hardware either manually or automatically. Let's go with the automatic option to keep things simple.

If the camera device fails to restore after running this automatic check, follow steps one to three again and select the second option; Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced).

If none of these fixes work and the camera device doesn't appear in the Device Manager, there may be a hardware issue. So, you should take your laptop for a thorough inspection. If the device is still under warranty, you should have it checked by the manufacturer rather than a local shop.

Having no camera driver available in Device Manager for troubleshooting camera issues can be irritating. Unless there is a hardware issue, you'll be able to restore it using the above fixes. In the same way as Camera, other devices can also disappear from the Device Manager. If that happens, don't panic, they can also be easily fixed.

I've had around 6/7 users contact me regarding their camera freezing when doing a video call on Teams. During the ringing stage the camera works fine but as soon as the person they are ringing joins, the user's camera then freezes. You can hear them fine but the camera is just frozen. The person's camera they have called works fine though and doesn't freeze.

I have tried uninstalling the in built camera & driver on the laptop & then re-installing, this has worked on a few occasions but then the users report it has frozen again. I have also tried uninstalling Teams & re-installing but this hasn't resolved the issue either. I've checked for any driver updates relating to the camera but it's all up to date.
