Just booted Cromix 172 XXU.

My cunning workaround to specify +100 to the year to set the name correctly post 2000 has broken down.

Desole.

Does anybody have a solution ? :-)

Still works with Z80 Cromix, interesting:

There is no workaround because at some time the used integer format will overflow. To fix this one needs all sources and modify date everywhere to a larger integer format.

Ah ha, Yup as you say, No Workee in 172. Does work in 20.63 and 31.68 as well as the others mentioned. Looks like just XXU. Humbug!

What happens in 172 if you set the date just prior to midnight 31/12/2023, does it clock over to 2024 correctly?

It reverts to 6:28:16 on February 6, 2036. I set the date/time to 12:16:00 on 10/20/123 and rebooted. Set for 23:59:57 on 12/31/123 and checked again after a few seconds. Rolled to 6:28:16 or maybe 17 on  02/06/2036. I may be off a second on the time. It has the day right. That is a Wednesday.

I'm thinking the battery may be dead on my xxu also because when I set a date and reboot, it stays but if I shutdown and reset, the date reverts to the Feb 6, 2036 date. Anybody have any insight into the XXU battery? I think I read a SUDS or somewhere that a specific battery was needed and an alternate would be an issue.

FWIW I replaced two XXU batteries, one with the recommended CR14250SE ($12.00) and the other with a CR2032 ($0.30); no difference that I could find, although of course the RTC chip is not Y2K compliant in any case.

Haven't looked for a while though.
