Does anyone know how I can attach a zip file to a conversation on this forum. It appears that the upload software scans the files and won't allow me to attach it if the file's header looks like a zip. Maybe I need different privileges from Marcus.

Doubtful that "extra privileges" will by-pass the .zip file witch hunt.  I never quite understood the paranoia attached to .zip files.

Maybe UUENCODE the file so that it is not recognizable as a .zip file?  It will make for very large files, however.

This is consistent with the immutable law of computer software and programmers: keep improving it until it is no longer useful.

Have you tried changing the extension to something else, e.g. .pdf?

You could possibly  repackage as lbr, or put the zip in an lbr using mklbr from github mark ogden.

Mike, I tried changing the file extension but the upload routine was not fooled. I am guessing that it scans the beginning of the file for a zip fingerprint. I also recall that it will not allow upload of .com or .exe but I think that is just filtered on the extension.
Mark, I did consider tar (or could be lbr) but I thought it better to have a format that you can unpack on your PC rather than sending to a Cromix/Unix device. I did think about a small Windows program that simply binary inverts each byte (and rename it to .piz) to fool the uploader but I am not a C programmer and my son is too busy with his job and child to do it for me.

Just a thought. You can upload to dropbox and just post the link. Dropbox is free. I've used this several times to avoid the 'zip' issue.
