For the past few months, I've been using the Gamakay Pheonix silent switches as my daily drivers, and I feel like these switches really fly under the radar for some reason or another. As such, I've decided to write a review from the perspective of an amateur keyboard hobbyist with an affinity for switches.

I was searching for a silent switch to be used at the office. I happen to work in an open plan office, which unfortunately allows sounds to travel quite far, so silence was a must-have if I wanted to use a mech keeb at the office. Additionally, I also didn't want to entirely eviscerate my wallet to fill up an entire keyboard with switches. So, the search commenced...

When I encountered the Gamakay Pheonix, I had already done some research about silent switches, often realizing that the really silent ones break the bank and the cheaper ones aren't as silent as I would have liked them to be. That said, given that the Gamakays in question were only $0.37 per switch, I figured I'll take the risk and bought 2 boxes (sold in packs of 35 switches) and if I didn't like them I'll just toss them in a jar or use them in a future build.

Note: I am aware that these are not the cheapest switches, as something like the Haimu Heartbeat are far cheaper. However, at the time of purchase I was not aware of these switches.

Upon arrival, which took about 2 weeks to get to Europe (at the time of writing, there are some complaints on Gamakay's website stating that people have not received the switches), I was surprised by the quality I received for the price. When I opened the box and tested the switches in hand I was pleasantly welcomed by the sound, or lack thereof, that the switch made. It was a truly silent switch!

In terms of build quality, the switches feel pretty decent, with adequate factory lube and no semblance of stemrattle whatsoever. The plastic housing, however, does seem a little bit cheap when compared to other switches like the Gaetron Reds. That said, this is to be expected given that the switches were budget friendly, and the comparison made was to switches that cost roughly $0.12 more per switch.

My biggest issue with the switches were the metal pins. While 3-pins are usually considered to be the go-to switches due to not having to clip any pins, these switches made fitting them into my Keychron K2 (hot-swappable) a pain, as the metal pins are far too thin and flimsy. I found myself having to straighten out pins I've bent several times over the course of inserting 70 switches into my keyboard, all while hoping I don't break them off - an issue I've never had over the several times I've swapped out switches in the same keyboard.

On sale, you can get the base game and all the DLC included on the switch version for the same price probably and even have access to the multitude of mods (some of which can get you the DLC for free) and all the new cosmetics and heists.

Hello all I'm wondering if the normal switch is worth it I did have a normal switch before I had a ps5 and I sild it to get one now I miss pokemon so now when I have a ps5 and a ps4 hooked up already should I get the normal switch or would the switch lite be a good option and do the games still look good on the switch lite? And is online still good? I mostly play my ps5 and the ps4 is for movies and when I sleep for youtube I mainly will play Pokemon and Mario and I was hoping in handheld mode it is still enjoyable thanks all!

The back material for the flip up section that houses the game cards feels like felt, and is big enough to cover the entire main switch unit (therefore would protect both OG size screen and OLED screen)

joycons charge with the switch and also when docked. The light turns off after a few off (or maybe dim?) . The only con I feel is when it's charging with the switch undocked and off it will do a dim light on/off cycle. Unsure how much this would drain the units battery though.

Well there in kind of lies my point. Though a lot of the content is locked behind loot grinding, Warframe does a great job of offering the player a wide variety of ways to experiment with different approaches to tackling a mission. With roughly ten different mission modes (I will admit archwing was a stupid idea though), the player may be queueing up for an experience they've already seen countless times before but the modes are varied enough that you can switch to something new if some other mode got boring. Spy requires the player to slow down and avoid detection, and if they are detected, ramp up from slow and methodological to panicked and precise. Defense missions demand good teamwork, awareness of spacing, and smart ability use. I will say though, that Capture missions are pretty uninspired (find the target, down him, race to the finish).

I found an old set of directions on how to set up switch control through accessibility, and I've followed the directions and got it running. However, it says "Invalid configuration" at the top and I can't figure out why. It doesn't keep it going indefinitely, after a few minutes my screen goes dark. Any ideas on how I can correct this?

I recently picked up the Ancestral Edition on sale and after playing it for awhile, here are my impressions. If you're interested, I think it was worth the money (although it's probably more expensive now) The controls on switch are a little bit wonky, but once you get used to it it's not a problem, and playing it on switch is great because of portability.

I have been on a massive life sim/rpg/whatever train lately and was considering redownloading the game on my switch. Is it worth it to get into? The art style for some reason makes me slightly unnerved but after reading about the romance, children, etc I want to pick it back up.

Sorry if this gets asked a lot... The switch has been my go-to system for years to play games, especially all kinds of roguelikes, big fan of the portability. I picked up RoR2 on it and I quite like the game (haven't completed many runs tho lol) ; the only annoying thing is the game struggles pretty quickly with performance, doesn't look great when docked, and still doesn't have DLC (european so waiting 'till the 23rd YAY). I understand now i should have gotten it on PC but I only now have a powerful enough one...

I've always felt wary about getting an asymmetrical leg work out, and it is starting to become a big deal. I recently had to stop skating for a while due to back pain, which is in my lower right back, over my ollie foot (probably due to weight training, but definitely compounded by skating). Also it seems that being comfortable in switch would improve my regular skating. I just want to feel comfortable landing, riding and ollieing in switch since I think it would make skating more fun.

Now, not that I am good at skating in regular, but in switch I am appallingly bad (although I never tried it seriously until very recently). It is like my body is hardwired to place slightly more weight on my right foot, and my left foot doesn't have the necessary strength / finesse to control the board from the tail. The result is that I can't ollie, can't manual, can't even really kick turn - so I am reduced to tic-tacing around in a circle, trying to stay on the board. I'm sure if I did that for hours, I would eventually get more control - but having such a limited option for movement is not fun and doesn't sustain my interest.

I've been trying to learn guitar for over three weeks now, and in the first 4 - 5 days I practiced a lot, and quickly got better playing chords with ease and decent (for the time I'd practiced) at switching. But since then, I've practiced almost daily and I haven't got any faster at switching chords since. Especially with chords like F and C, I obviously know what they are now and what position my hand has to assume but I can't get there any quicker.

I read that I can go to about:profiles, create profile here and then open firefox with parameters (to open as different user), but that is extremely not user friendly, there could be some button when you click on it, popup shows with profiles and you can switch between them by one-two clicks.

My sister's birthday is coming up and shes always loved fire emblem. Mainly for the characters and how they can interact with each other and the deeper dialogue. She is not a fan of turn based games but likes the tacticsl style of fire emblem. I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a similar title available on the switch.

I saw someone say that your satisfaction with Linux will depend heavily on what you expect to get out of switching. Personally, and im aware of how silly this sounds, i'm contemplating switching mostly because of how customizable it is aesthetically in comparison to windows.

I've also heard about video game compatibility, and i think most of the games id wanna play and other applications i use are compatible with linux, I also dont mind having to boot into windows to game when necessary. So with all that, is switching worth it in my case?

I'm curious from those with experience maybe playing both the PC and Switch versions and I usually prefer physical copies of games and there is currently a sale, but I was worried that there might be massive framerate drops and glitches like there was on Rune Factory 5 for switch.

I was thinking of buying this game for my switch, because the videos I saw were looking good and the promise of the game is appealing to me. I played Animal Crossing, Disneys Dreamlight Valley and many of the Harvest Moon/Story of seasons games and I guess Fae Farm is a lot like that.
