Thought I'd forward this to remind you that Bro. Bobby has asked classes to bring items to send to AL.  Lynn says that the trailer is 1/4 full.  Also, you can "like" Christian County Baptist Association on facebook to stay informed about this and other local needs.  For example: Tom Westerfield is part of a mission team going to Zimbabwe so remember him in your prayers.

Subject: HELP US HELP ALABAMA

Christian County Baptist Association has received numerous inquiries on how people in Hopkinsville, Kentucky and surrounding areas can assist those who were directly affected by the April tornadoes in Alabama. CCBA has closely monitored communications from the Kentucky Baptist Convention waiting for an action plan to be organized that would most benefit those victims of the devastating tornadoes. An organized action plan is in place and CCBA will be leading efforts to collect items for tornado victims. CCBA has arranged to deliver the needed items to distribution points within the state of Alabama.

COLLECTION PERIOD:                 MAY 9TH - MAY 19TH

DROP-OFF LOCATION:    FRONT PARKING LOT - TRAILER

                                                CHRISTIAN COUNTY BAPTIST ASSOCIATION

                                                905 NORTH DRIVE

                                                HOPKINSVILLE KENTUCKY 42240

TIMES OF COLLECTION:  MONDAY THRU FRIDAY, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

IT IS OUR PRAYER THAT WE WILL HAVE ENOUGH ITEMS COLLECTED BY MAY 10TH TO TAKE THE FIRST OF 3 POSSIBLE DELIVERIES

(The note below comes directly from the Kentucky Baptist Convention website May 4, 2011)

As we move forward, additional items are needed.

Immediate needs now include

§   sports drinks

§   baby items that include food, formula, diapers and wipes

§   canned food with easy open lids

§   large plastic containers with lids (victims are using these as they go through the remains of their homes)

§   and personal hygiene items (toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, soap, chap stick, sun screen).

***PLEASE NOTE***

PER COMMUNICATION FROM ALABAMA

DONATIONS OF WATER AND CLOTHING ARE NOT BEING ACCEPTED AT THIS TIME

Needs will change again as we move forward but flexibility is a key word in disaster relief efforts.

On behalf of the victims, thank you for your support.

Bro. Bobby Melton

Director of Missions

Christian County Baptist Association
