Subject: Update on Stephen
Dear Family and Friends:
Stephen has felt pretty good this past week although his numbers are still
very low. The bone marrow biopsy report on Feb. 15 showed there is still
evidence of Aplastic Anemia. Because of that, his hematologist has suggested he
have another ATG treatment, when he is ready, this time using horse ATG. Stephen
chose to wait a couple of weeks before starting the procedure. Because of the
wait, we have been blessed with time to enjoy his girlfriend's visit, a day at
the Houston Rodeo and time to visit with friends and family. He is spending the
next couple of days in Galveston with his girlfriend Chelsea, Liz and
Brandon.
The plan is for Stephen to be admitted on Tuesday afternoon March 8 and
remain in the hospital for 5 days. Chelsea will stay with him the first night.
She will be leaving to go back to FL on Wednesday. She is truly special and a
gift to all of us.
Our prayer Requests are as follows:
Please pray for safe travel for Chelsea and for God's comfort for her..
Please pray for healing, that this treatment would work, that Stephen has
few if any side effects. Pray for kind, caring and capable nurses and
caregivers. For no complications from the blood transfusions that he will be
receiving. Also no side effects from the many medications that he will be
taking. Pray for wisdom for the doctors. Pray for peace, rest and strength for
all of us.
This morning I read the following that I would like to share with
you.
Each
time we face a “God, what’s the plan here” moment, we can know that we’re also
nearing the “but God” moment, where we’ll see our story unfolding for God’s
glory and for his good plans for us. (Jeremiah 29; Romans
8:28)
As we wait, Jesus changes us. We no longer see the need to know how
we’ll be delivered. We come to know that, no matter how the story ends, it
includes the phrase, “but God is our Deliverer.” (2 Samuel 22:2)
The last few months have had moments of deep pain. But these months have also
had times of much peace. Please pray that we would all live in the "but
God" moments resting on the promise that he is our Deliverer.
Love, Kathy
