Subject: March 20 Update

Thanks for all your prayers, thoughts and encouraging words the last few weeks. Stephen came home from MD Anderson Hospital on Wednesday night after spending 9 days there. (Four more than planned). It was a tough stay for him. He had numerous side effects from the horse ATG treatment, then side effects from the meds given to counter the side effects. The good news is that he is feeling pretty good right now. The down side of that is that he probably feels good from the steroids he is taking. He is slowly tapering off those. He also came home with 8 days of IV antibiotics that he can self administer 3 times a day. He had developed an infection in the hospital that required an additional antibiotic. He is once again in a waiting period. He will continue as before and get his blood levels checked twice a week, receiving transfusions as needed.

Our prayers and praises are as follows;

We are thankful for the care he received from the nurses while hospitalized. We are also thankful for the time that we were able to spend together as family. Liz and Brandon were able to spend a couple of nights with him because of spring break and match week. We are thankful for the kind words, the scriptures, the phone calls and emails at just the right moments. We are thankful for the way God makes himself known to us and His strength in the midst of the hard days. How He never leaves or forsakes us. I am thankful for the manna that God continues to provide for us each day.

We would ask for you to continue to pray for Stephen's all around healing. That this last treatment did indeed put this disease into remission. Please pray for rest for all of us. For strength to continue in the waiting period. For us to be able to patiently live in one day at a time. To remember that God has a plan for us, a plan to prosper and not to harm us, to give us a hope and a future.

"We wait in hope for the Lord: he is a help and our shield.
In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you." Psalm 33:20-22

Kathy
