HIS HOLINESS POPE BENEDICT XVI

Citta del Vaticano

Rome, Italy

Most Holy Father,

This past week, I watched Your Holiness on EWTN, speaking to and
praying with hundreds of thousands of young people at the 23rd World
Youth Day in Sydney, Australia. Your pastoral words re-echoed
throughout the world and filled with the power of the Holy Spirit
millions of Your faithful sons and daughters.

I thank Your Holiness for keeping the Church ever young as Your
predecessor Servant of God John Paul II had already done at the
previous twenty-two World Youth Days. Thank you, Most Holy Father,
for continuing that Sacred Tradition.

Together with this grateful letter, I am sending Your Holiness two
articles of mine on St. Joseph, the Virginal Husband of Mary and also
Virginal father of Jesus. In these articles is reflected the spirit
of The Croatian Franciscan School and its teaching on the Jesus-Mary-
Joseph ORDER OF THE HYPO-STATIC UNION. Decades ago, from this School
I learned the bold theological views on St. Joseph. I keep reflecting
on them, I am studying them and I am also writing about them.

The core of my own views on St. Joseph is The Prayerful Salutation to
him. Although I penned it down in 1974, in it as I see a striking
similarity with John Paul II’s Apostolic Exhortation, “Redemptoris
Custos”, of 1989.

I keep reading not only that Apostolic Exhortation but also the two
books on it: The Catechism on Redemptoris Custos, by Charles F.
Mangan, and the profoundly insightful book, SAN JOSE en la Historia de
la Salvacion, by Tarcisio Stramare. These inspiring sources and many
other Josephological books and articles are urging me to write now a
lengthy article, entitled: “St. Joseph, the Uncrowned King of Israel”.

Servant of God John Paul II wants us to discover the dignity and the
glories of St. Joseph, for “la figura de Jose adquiere una renovada
actualidad para la Iglesia de nuestro tiempo, en la relacion con el
Nuevo Milennio cristiano”.

Most Holy Father, I humbly ask Your Apostolic Blessing on my
spreading the glories of St. Joseph, Your Holiness’ Patron Saint and
also the Protector of the Church and of my native Croatia.

In Jesus-Mary-Joseph Filially Yours,

John Prcela
