SLOVENIA - LOBBYIST OF MACEDONIA FOR NATO MEMBERSHIP
Slovenia is already a member of NATO and EU, but on the road towards Euro-Atlantic integration everything that we have achieved we have made by ourselves, said Thursday in Skopje Slovenian Army Chief of Staff, General Ladislav Lipic, who is paying official visit to Macedonia. Lipic had meetings with his host, Macedonian Army Chief of Staff general-major Miroslav Stojanovski, and Defense Minister, Jovan Manasijevski. Lipic said that Macedonia has shown as credible partner of NATO and EU countries, adding that Slovenia would continue to support Macedonia's integration in Euro-Atlantic structures. "Regardless the different position of two countries, Macedonia and Slovenia are committed to help each other. Slovenia and its Army would continue to help Macedonia," he said. "ARM and Defense Ministry are in a serious reform process. The cooperation with Slovenian Army is of great importance for ARM, because the enormous Slovenian experience should be used without doubt in country's membership to NATO," general major Stojanovski said. Stojanovski and Lipic discussed reforms in defense sector, achievements in ARM transformation and possibilities for intensifying of bilateral contacts. Slovenian Army Chief of Staff will also meet President and Supreme Commander of Macedonian Armed Forces, Branko Crvenkovski. Slovenian delegation will pay a visit to army training area Krivolak and the air base WING, before attending the demonstrative exercise of the Special Forces Unit with the Army of Republic of Macedonia.
