Dear Senator Charles Schumer:
It is my great pleasure and honor to extend to you a warm invitation to a panel discussion event on the Syrian Refugee Crisis to be held on Sunday, October 25th, at 1:30 pm, at the Muslim Community Center in Schenectady. The event is being organized to address the community concerns regarding the Syrian issue. The Director of the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants will provide an update on the efforts made by her agency regarding the crisis. In addition, two speakers from the Syrian American Council in Washington DC will provide an update on the gravity of the refugees ‘situation inside and outside Syria.
Participants include local politicians, faculty members from local universities, the Rockefeller Institute of Government, interfaith organizations, students, and community members. Please see attached flyer for more details.
I hope we will have the honor to welcome you at our Community Center. We would like you to learn first- hand about our concerns and share with you our ideas on ways to help Syrian refugees. We understand though that you have an extremely busy schedule. In the unfortunate event, you could not make it, we will appreciate it very much if staff from your office could attend and relay the information to you. Please, let me know whether to expect you or your staff members to help us organize the program's agenda accordingly.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
