to Critique Partner Matchup

Hello writerly people! :)

I am searching for Critique Partner for my current Novel, Lux Vestra

Current blurb:
London, 1890s. Magic is divided by tradition, and Serenitas and Nova both claim to know its true meaning. Johann, a member of Serenitas—who believes magic requires discipline and control—begins to question everything he’s known after a string of tragic deaths rekindles the old rivalry. His growing love for Gereon, the lead actor of the theatre where Johann works as a conductor, forces him to confront not only his heritage, but the illusion that power must be divided at all.

Overall it could be described as a queer historical fantasy where magic and art are closely connected. The main focus is the exploration of ideology and identity as well as philosophical reflections about what art means with a romance subplot.

This is my forth book, though I am unpublished so far. I do not have an agent or an editor etc. Currently I’m editing the second draft, at the moment around 72k words, which is a bit over half-way. As of now, I am not editing chronologically, so I would provide the manuscript bit by bit. I am not a native speaker, but the book is written in English – so there’s likely to be language mistakes.

About me:
I have studied literature at university (in Englisch and German) with focus in teh field of Comparative Literature. I’m specialised in Myth and Queer Studies/Feminism, but generally I read quite broadly, with main interest being in fantasy and retellings!

I would be happy to find a critique partner to give honest feedback that gets my book further while also cheering me on for what already works well! Overall I am not searching for line edits but more for a “does this work overall” and whether it is interesting/engaging to read – as well as weeding out plot holes! I am willing to swap both full manuscripts (though Lux Vestra is not there yet!) as well as chapters.

Last Book I’ve loved: If We Were Villains, M. L. Rio

Book that describes me as a reader: Dark Rise, C. S. Pacat

Best way to contact me is probably through E-Mail: sara...@gmx.de

Would love to hear from you if you're interested!
Sara :)
