I am a neophyte, and so I am seeking others who are new to writing fiction or who want to work with those who are new.

Years ago, I taught English to non-native speakers as well as tutored college students.  I write extensively for my current job, but not fiction.

I have been writing a lot of short and very short (e.g., flash and micro) fiction, and I am interested in getting critiques for pieces that I may submit for publication.

I love reading literature that is beyond my own experience, so the topics of the stories of my CP do not matter as much as the quality of the writing.  Although I can write some psychologically dark stories, I am not open to gratuitously violent or hateful content.

To give you an indication of what I like (and aspire to), here are some examples from world literature--

All for Nothing by Walter Kempowski

Copenhagen Trilogy by Tove Ditlevsen

The Complete Stories of Franz Kafka

Black Water: The Anthology of Fantastic Literature, and Black Water 2: The Anthology of Fantastic Literature, Alberto Manguel, ed.

Best-Loved Folktales, Joanna Cole, ed.

Favorite Folktales from around the World, Janet Yolen, ed.

Kolyma Stories by Varlam Shalamov

The Collected Stories by William Trevor

The Greatest Short Stories of Anton Chekhov

The Collected Short Stories by Satyajit Ray
