Hi all!

I’m currently seeking CPs for my current WIP, a dual-POV historical fiction story at 92k words and 40 chapters. It is based on the real lives of specific historical figures, going from 1900 through 1950s. These individuals came from a Jewish immigrant family that arrived in America in the late 1800s and they were best known for working in Hollywood. It deals with themes like family dynamics, media and society, politics, identity and personal growth.

I’m mostly looking for CPs who can swap chapters with me fairly regularly and/or are likely to be able to finish the story if we match. I get life happens sometimes, so this isn’t meant to be a barrier, but I am hoping to find someone fairly consistent. I would say my feedback style is honest, but I try to deliver feedback in kind ways, rather than a brutally honest approach. I always like to make longer-term connections where we might swap on future projects but of course not required! If you are knowledgeable about Judaism/are Jewish or are knowledgeable about this historical time period, Hollywood, Yiddish, Orthodox religious practices, etc. those are helpful perspectives but not a requirement.

If you have questions or are interested in this, I’d be happy to swap 1-2 chapters to see if we are a good match in critiquing and writing styles! I am open to reading many different genres including fantasy, contemporary, romance/romantasy, mystery/thriller, and historical fiction.

Thanks for your help!

Hi there Emily,

Your historical fiction novel sounds really interesting. I have been reading about the history of early Hollywood as well as many migrant groups that went to the US in late 19th and early 20th century. I'm not from the US myself, and I don't share any ethnicity background with your characters, but I always like to learn about may different perspectives of people and historical eras. I have personally written several stories set in many different places and eras from medieval France/Burgundy to 1970s US, and my writings have had positive feedback from those countries' locals.

Would you be interested in swapping critiques with my novel?

Complete at 66k words, it's a pulpy adventure set in 1948, about an Argentine tango singer who goes on a secret mission in a fictional city on the French Riviera, to find important stolen jewels for his government. There are some adult themes, but nothing too explicit.

I'm looking for feedback mostly on plot, characters, voice, settings dialogs, and anything big-picture. I'm not a native Spanish speaker, but I've checked the local phrases with natives online, so I'm not looking for feedback on those, either.

Let me know what you think. I can be contacted via email to allae...@gmail.com
