Hi, I do not have an agent and I’m looking for critique partners for the first draft of my middle grade novel.

When dyspraxic twelve year old Harper Rockwell’s parents tell her they’re planning on switching her to a smaller school due to her social difficulties, Harper sets out to try new activities until she finds something she’s good at, thinking this will make people want to be her friend.

The last books I read and loved:

MG: P.S. I Miss You by Jen Petro-Roy

YA: The Kings of B’More by R. Eric Thomas

Adult: The Wedding People by Alison Espach

Book I feel epitomizes me as a reader: I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston

“Dyspraxia is a neurological disorder throughout the brain that results in life-long impaired motor, memory, judgment, processing, and other cognitive skills. Dyspraxia also impacts the immune and central nervous systems. Each person with Dyspraxia has different challenges and abilities.” -Dyspraxia Foundation USA https://dyspraxiausa.org/what-is-dyspraxia/

  • Another thing about dyspraxia that is important to note as it relates to this manuscript, is that kids with dyspraxia often struggle with self-esteem

  • Harper and one of the other main characters are queer

  • I breezed through my first draft and am looking for feedback on big picture stuff like plot and character arcs instead of smaller details like line edits for this draft

  • I am open to reading any age range but my order of preference (high to low) is 1. YA
    2. Adult 3. MG

  • Preferred genres to read (and the ones I’m most familiar with) are contemporary and romance

Hi TB!

I am currently writing a draft of an adult time-slip romance. BUT. Your concept sounds awesome! I'm a physical therapist so I understand what dyspraxia is. I also have a 7yo son, so I'm also happy to read it with him if you think feedback from a MG perspective would be helpful.

If you're open to critique partnering with me, I'd love to give you feedback!

Blurb: When a cynical reality television producer falls through time into the dangerous world of the Visconti court circa 1412, she must navigate a courtship contest of her own making while falling for the one man she can never keep.

Let me know!
