to Critique Partner Matchup
Hello!

I am seeking a critique partner/accountability partner for my 90k manuscript, Persistent Silence. I am deep in edits right now and am looking for others to let me know if the edits are on the right track or if more work is needed before I begin querying agents.

I am open to swapping most other genres, but I will admit I am not a good fit for historical/romance.

I can be reached at a.r.loc...@gmail.com or here.

My blurb:

Willow Sinclair can pinpoint the exact moment her life fell apart: the day she found Peter Lankford’s body, impaled high on a tree branch. As if the resulting anxiety and debilitating panic attacks after that day weren’t bad enough, a conspiracy group is convinced the murderer is a supernatural being and loves nothing more than to badger Willow about what she saw in the woods that day, ensuring that she’s never able to move past it.

But when she encounters one of the members she has a personal history with, she discovers two things: the group believes the supernatural being is tied to her, and he has zero recollection of his previous encounter with her. Unable to stand the thought she’s connected to the killer, she begins investigating the theories to prove them wrong.

And when another person goes missing and all signs point to the same killer, she will need to do whatever she can to find the truth before it’s too late.

Hi!

I'm looking for one more critique partner, and I'm interested in your WIP. Right now, I'm also deep in edits after my first draft of my queer, NA contemporary semi-eldritch standalone horror. I'd like to finish the second draft this fall and start querying in the winter. Here are some details.

POV: 1 third person past
Synopsis: Hezekiah Chavez never wanted to leave his small, rural hometown. His friends, however, have begun to go their own ways. But one year after their high school graduation, the seven friends find themselves together for one more miracle summer, a last chance to celebrate the good old days and give each other a proper goodbye. However, it quickly becomes evident that none of them are there by coincidence. And the force that brought them back and the tragedies disrupting the sleepy town represent a desperate struggle and ancient mysticism the friends have been entirely ignorant of. The lines of fate and reality blur and piling bodies overwhelm what was supposed to be a tender reunion, and all their questions lead back to their friend Paulsie, who left town without a word and returned changed by the long winter.
Stage: First Draft (155k) 100%, in revision
What I'm workshopping: I'm looking to smooth out character arcs and amplify the thematic resonance. Hoping to somehow add a few scenes but also cut 50k of length from the manuscript and need help trimming. General feedback very welcome. Also, considering switching to present tense.
Comps: Summer Sons, The Raven Cycle, All for the Game, Annihilation
TWs: body horror, gore, referenced child abuse/neglect, SA, drug use/trafficking/abuse, suicidal ideation

Would you like to exchange the first couple chapters to see if we're a good fit?
