Hello everyone!
I'm looking to either form a writing group or for long term critique partner(s). I'm mainly looking for someone to swap novels with. However, I do also enjoy writing short stories/flash fiction so if that's something you're interested in too then that's great!
I am not currently agented. I have a full manuscript that's in it's 5th draft that has gotten minimal outside feedback (meaning it's in desperate need of it). It's sitting at just over 100,000 words, but I'm really hoping to cut that down to closer to 90,000 words.
Merrow is about Nerissa, a Merrow who is trying to uncover the truth behind her fiance Dylan's death. He died in a "work accident" while employed for a prestigious family of Witches. Nearly a century after his death, that very family sends Nerissa an invitation to a party that she really has no business attending, but the chance to prove that there was more to Dylan's death than meets the eye is too good to pass up. It explores the themes of grief and finding the beauty in life after tragedy through a fantasy lens.
A book that defines me as a reader is "Ink Blood Sister Scribe" by Emma Torzs.
Quick overview of me as a critique partner:
I have given writing feedback before, although it has been some time, and it was always for short stories rather than novel length. That being said, I do know how to give actionable feedback with supporting reasons as for why I came to formulate certain opinions. I am an avid reader in the fantasy genre and have a good grasp of the expected conventions within that genre. I have taken multiple proofreading courses recently, and, while I am not an expert, I can give generic feedback for that as well.
