Need feedback for first 3k ~ Contemporary fic

Hi all,

I was part of this group a few years ago while working on my last book and it was of great help, so I thought I'd join again as I begin my next.

I need some feedback on only the first chapter of my book, about 3000 words, that I wish to use for a writing residency application. 

Things I am looking for feedback on- pacing, interest, prose, and anything else that sticks out to you.
