Hi everyone! I'm on the fourth draft of my fantasy novel, God-Chosen, and would like some more eyes on it before I start looking for agents. Please let me know if you'd like to swap manuscripts or are open to beta read.
GOD-CHOSEN is a 100,000-word fantasy adventure based on Hernán Cortés's 1519 expedition. It balances the intrigue of multiple-perspective novels like The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake with the historical context and anti-imperialist sentiments of Babel by R. F. Kuang.
Safya has been waiting for this expedition her entire life. All she needs to do is leave the shadow of her family’s execution in the Elcastian Inquisition, rise in the ranks of the Elcastian Army, and conquer the savages of the New World. Then she'll prove to everyone, including her patron goddess Jannah, that she's worthy. With the secret divine abilities of strength and battle prowess granted to her by the goddess, it should be easy. But the natives are stronger and more intelligent than the Elcastians made them out to be, bolstered by magic from their own gods of war. When a rival from school, golden boy Jaume de Prava, makes it his mission to expose all her secrets, Safya faces the possibility of execution just like her parents. Will she be able to tamp down the stirring connection with Jaume to do what’s right? Can she put her personal feelings aside and help the Elcastians destroy yet another culture, or will she lose her chance to take back power from the kingdom that had made her who she is illegal?
