Much like how the NMRSC (National Mixed Race Students Coalition,
founded in 2003 at the MAVIN Foundation National Conference on the
Mixed Race Experience) was active in bringing together mixed students
together to network and share with each other, the National
Association of Mixed Student Organizations (NAMSO) was imagined by
current undergraduate students and recent alums who met at the
Critical Mixed Race Studies conference in November 2010 who were
looking for a way to stay connected. We're hoping that the current
generation of mixed student clubs can collaborate and meet through the
structure of NAMSO, and reflect and build on the efforts of mixed club
leaders that have come before us. We aim to create a community that
will help students interested in mixed race studies stay connected and
involved even after they graduate.
As Chris mentioned in the original post, if you know of undergraduate
mixed clubs or student leaders that would be interested in
collaborating with others and sharing resources, please encourage them
to email mixedstu...@gmail.com. We hope that others will become
involved, contribute resources, and participate in re-envisioning what
an effective association of mixed student organizations/leaders/alumni
might look like. Please also feel free to "Like" our Facebook page,
where we will regularly post news and updates, maintain a list of
organizations, and begin building our network. The page can be found
at www.facebook.com/mixedstudentorgs.
