Are you interested in helping to bring thoughtful - interesting - imaginative - whimsical - provocative art to Critical Massive MMX? You might be just who we're looking for!
Ignition Northwest is seeking self-nominations for two new members to join the Critical Massive 2010 Art Grant Committee.
This committee reviews Art Grant Applications for Critical Massive and determines grant awards. We have a generous working budget, and past grant awards have ranged from $100 to $1,500. In its 5th year, this 4-person working committee strives for an equal mix of members both experienced and new to the process. Committee members are selected from a self-nominated candidate pool. This year the Art Grant Committee will be chaired by returning committee member Julie Vithoulkas, and overseen by Qathi Hart, Ignition Northwest board member and Art Committee Chair. Our work is achieved via three in-person meetings (in Seattle) and a variety of on-line communications.
Commitment includes:
* Flexible availability in the week of February 21 - 28 for initial meeting of committee members and to establish award selection priorities (expect this meeting to take 1 - 2 hours).
* Flexible availability between April 1 - 11 for grant selection meeting. Expect this meeting to take 2.5 - 4 hours.
* Several hours on your own to look over all grant applications online (preferably as they are submitted, and familiarize yourself with the teams/projects prior to grant selection meeting).
* Regular and prompt availability via email until Critical Massive to review remaining microgrant applications.
* Available for wrap-up meeting between late July and mid-August to review projects, committee function, wrap-up. Expect this meeting to take 1 - 2 hours.
* Flexibility regarding participation on next year's committee (goal is two returning and two new committee members every year).
No prior art-related experience is required; it's great if you bring that to the table, but all excited-by-art, collaboratively-minded people will be considered. That's you, right? We particularly would like to hear from folks who are relatively new to the Seattle Burning Man scene (new-ish Burners or Burners new to Seattle), or who have applied for a grant for Critical Massive in the past (whether awarded or not).
If you're interested in serving on the committee, please send a brief introduction to artg...@ignitionnw.org, with the subject [CM’10 Art Grant Committee Nomination].
Your introduction should include:
*Your name *A little background info
*Your exposure to Burning Man
*Your exposure to Critical Massive
*Your previous participation in Seattle-region BM-related events
*Your expected availability during the above-listed times
*Why you'd like to serve on the committee.
We will make selection and let you know by February 17, 2010.
Thanks for your interest in helping select the art for Critical Massive 2010.
