Welcome to the dev group. As you may have noticed from the project
site, there's about four separate groups like this: a public
discussion group that's intended primarily for end users and the like,
this dev group, a group to handle commit log notices, and lastly one
to handle issues notices.

I decided to keep commits (code updates) and issue notices separate
from the dev group for clarity and cleanliness. I might have people on
the dev group that don't need to see commit logs and issue notices,
etc, and vice versa.

For now this group should suffice although you may wish to subscribe
to the commit group so you'll know when someone updates the core
coding.

I'll get the details of the SVN repository up some time tonight. Until
then, I highly recommend looking here (http://www.byond.com/docs/
guide/) to get started on learning the DM language/interface. Don't
worry about high level things such as icon manipulation and such -
that comes with time. For now just get familiar with the similarities
and differences between DM and, say, C or Python. How data structures
are handled, loop declarations, variable declarations, etc.

Lol yeah SwishiestB0g, amazingly only like 10 people say it the right
way :P
I took a quick glace at the code and building a basic world yesterday
I think.
Got some sprites to walk and to kill things, though my skills as a
pixel artist were rather lacking.

I'll go over some more tomorrow and work my way up.

It's really easy to get a basic game up, isn't it? What's great, though, is
how extensible it is.
Hell, the interface is customizable - I can make the game look just about
how ever I want it to.

In any event, the project we're working on will be called Star Wars:
Universe. As I think I mentioned it will be a framework designed to allow
for customized settings on just about everything. I'll provide a link to the
core system I'm using (the SAGA RPG if you don't have a copy) so that you
(and anyone else we get) can see what the end goal is and how the core
system (game rule wise) is supposed to work.

Currently the data will be stored in XML format. I'm assuming you're
familiar with XML standards - it's basically free-form HTML, lol.

The project wiki will hold the documentation of the project. I currently
have some of the libraries I've written for this and other projects
documented. Most notable is libDB.

I'm thinking finding someone to be a full time documenter might be helpful,
lol. Mizoc might be interested, but we'll see. For myself I need to start
adhering to a standard way of declaring variables, structures, and
procedures.
