Hello Crisismapers,

We have been working hard to get updated imagery for Chile.  So far, we have processed and published the 5m resolution RapidEye data acquired post-earthquake, on Saturday Feb. 27.  It is available as a KML overlay in this file:

That network link will automatically update when we add new imagery and other data.  We hope to get higher resolution pre and post quake images soon.

Also note our landing page for the Chile Earthquake relief efforts: http://www.google.com/relief/chileearthquake/

Thanks,
-Christiaan

Hi Christian

Thanks for this work can you clarify further on permission right for OSM to trace data from Google and partners imagery and make the data available under CC-BY-SA (commercial use allowed) within the OSM project?

Thanks in advance for this
Best

Dear Crisismappers,

Since last week, we have been adding Chile imagery to the KML file as it has become available.  It now includes high-resolution scenes of some of the most affected areas.  We are working to get imagery of the remaining ones.  The KML also contains a list of priority areas as indicated from several sources, as well as inundation maps of the Concepcion area from Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas.  Be sure to explore the folders in the Places panel, since not all the layers are visible by default.

You can access the KML here:
It will check for updates every 6 hours, whenever you restart Google Earth, or if you manually refresh the network link (right-click on the layer listing and select Refresh).

Thanks and keep up the great work!
-Christiaan
