Some of you may be familiar with the map books and atlases Delta State
GIS has created for events like Haiti, Hurricane Irene, etc... We are
going to do a live demonstration that shows the process we use for
creating GeoPDF atlases in support of such events. While the tools we
use are not open source, I hope that it might stimulate some in this
community to help create some which are. Specifics that we'll show
include integrating local, OSM, and service-based data; using
standards-driven cartographic templates to create large volumes of
maps; integrating individual map sheets into map books and atlases;
and methods of disseminating the final product; use of GeoPDF's to
create new data or modify existing data such that it can be versioned
back into the master data stream. Again, we know that this is a
commercial presentation as this is the toolset we use to accomplish
the mission. To register, please visit the link below. The
presentation starts at 2:00 Eastern Standard Time and will last
approximately an hour.
