Subject: [CrisisCommons] embedding content on blog posts
To:
crisis...@googlegroups.comHi all,
A few people have asked me to explain how to properly embed content in WordPress (videos, Slideshare presentations, etc) so that they show up in blog posts on Crisiscommons.org.
All you need to do is this:
1. Grab the embed code from wherever the content is hosted (YouTube, Slideshare, Vimeo, etc).
2. In the blog post writing dashboard, there are two views - Visual and HTML - click on HTML
3. Paste the embed code in the place you want it on the post. Content should at max be 500px wide (you can just change the pixel width right in the embed code without changing the height if you wish).
4. Before saving/posting, click on the Visual view again and you should see a placeholder for the content you wish to embed.
5. Check a preview of the post to make sure that it shows up.
Finally, I'd just like to ask everyone to use the "More" feature in posts longer than say two paragraphs, that way on the homepage visitors can quickly scan our recent news and then click on those posts that they find more interesting without having to scroll down too much.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
Chad
