I'm wondering if we want to try and use our CrabGrass install to begin 
coordinating on these various efforts. This event is perhaps a good test 
case - it's not life-threatening. The citizen response itself will be 
low, but the ability to connect together numerous projects very high.

So we could create a Project for the Gulf Oilspill, and also encourage 
the new projects, Emicus, Noah, etc. to also create Projects.

Just an idea, but it may be a good way to push the platform forward.

I did mean spoken language but with multiple to choose from but yes! Programming language seems like a great idea as well! If we push the idea, some kind of skill mapping in general seems like a natural extension, maybe Sara you have some good conceptual maps for this in your bag?

 

About “Recent xxxchoose your favorite word herexxx”, seems to bring up a question of decision making process. Is there a Poll application yet for Crabgrass? Some of these decisions seem like they would benefit from being put out there to the community of users, what do you think?

 

I’ll see what I can do about the few display glitches, I can for sure first start to list them J

 

Its great to know that the Crabgrass community is open to feedback. Do you know who with or where we could start to set up this feedback channel? Maybe again the collaborationdev group is the best place (from a eat your own dog food perspective as well), and maybe there’s a way we can feed out into Crabgrass’ pages (RSS available maybe?). I guess collaborationdev should at least be a triage zone to differentiate instance problems (like changing the conf file) from core problems (which have to be fed back into crabgrass it self).

 

Looking forward for your comments on this.

Do you mean 'Programming Language'? Or actual spoken languages, but able to choose from multiple? One idea we had discussed was being able to 'tag' yourself with skills such as "Ruby, Kreyol, Mobile, Doctor" 

 

-          Change the “Recent Pages” link on group home pages into “Recent Posts”  (it’s a semantic question…)

 

THis is easy to modify in the config/lang/en.yml and other language files.

 

-          There are a few glitches which are more technical (like probably browser specific display bugs)

Should some of these be submitted to the crabgrass user feedback (https://we.riseup.net/users) or to the CrisisCommons group ? Is it proper to simply add a tasklist? I feel like I should first establish contact…  I’ve tried to ping Andrew Turner who seems to be managing this, is he the right person?

 

The CrabGrass community is very interested in helping out. We just need to connect better into providing them requests and feedback and ways for them to contribute directly back as well.  There probably could be a CrisisCommons group in the CrabGrass site that conveys our current thoughts/ideas/ requests as it affects the underlying platform.
