in this one-day workshop on May 22nd at PCC-Cascade in Portland,
Oregon.
What: International Humanitarian Aid Workshop

Cost: $40 (includes all workshop materials and tasty lunch catered by Deepak of The Improv Pot!)
This workshop is designed to provide participants with a practical
overview of the field of international humanitarian aid. Attendees will
learn about this exciting and rewarding profession through case
studies, interactive group exercises, discussions and stories from the
field. The workshop covers: theories and concepts of relief work,
standards, assessment and response techniques, and practical issues
about what it’s like to work as an international relief worker.
Most importantly, you will learn if this career is right for you
and you will receive guidance on ways to pursue your first job in the
field. We can also connect you with humanitarian workers around the
world. This workshop is useful for people considering
opportunities with the Peace Corps or faith-based humanitarian
missions.
The workshop is being taught by Arif Khan, an experienced relief
worker who has managed projects during armed conflicts and
post-disaster situations in Indonesia, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Chad,
Yemen, Burma (Myanmar) and Kenya.
