I'm the person mentioned in number 1!

I've done as much as there is to be done so far (beyond making it look slicker - for the sake of simplicity it currently looks like the Web did in about 2000). What remains is for someone to find/create a nice "how-to" for random people who want to help with OSM mapping so that we can link to it, plus Urdu and Pashto translations.

The file is on Github, something about which I know very little, Tom knows more - were you going to put it up on the web somewhere Tom?

And the other question again - do we want to get hold of a domain name for it (good for tweeting, remembering etc), or something with similar effect?

For those who don't know what we're talking about:
This was the idea that if the large numbers random people that we need (e.g. people at my office in their lunchbreaks) are to work on the various "grunt-work" crowdsourcing tasks like Crowdflower/Ushahidi, Sahana and particularly OSM, we need a simple userfriendly splash page directing them to a "how-to" guide and the task. This could then easily be publicised and bring in lots of helpers, who would otherwise have been lost wading through the myriad links and other discussions/issues listed on our wiki(s)!

:)

Hi Salma,

You have a box of sticky labels in the CrisisCampInnaBag.  We thought they might be useful to you - we got the 250-sticker pack :-)

Hi Cambridge Camp,

I am the girl in the headscarf. First of all, forgive me, as I don't remember names, and we didn't have stickers on in yesterday's meeting (which we definitely need to do for next time, especially when we get new members or people like me who are not very good with names - can Aptivate provide some?).

I just wanted a few updates from you guys so that we can move forward, and I can look at some serious marketing and be better prepared for the next meeting. Yesterday's meeting felt slightly unstructured and I think if we were to organise things better, when Alan is not there, we should have a leader in place, I think the camp would be more productive that way (Doesn't have to be the same person every time - just someone to take the lead). What do you all think? Anyhow:

(Once again, my apologies for referring to you as 'person')

1. The person that was working on creating the crowdsourcing holding page, when roughly do you think it'll be ready by? (There is no rush, but because we mentioned in the meeting that we would send our story to Cambridge Evening News after this page is created. Therefore it would be good to know roughly when we could do that and gain some publicity and hopefully more individuals attending our meeting. Also, do you require any help? I have web design and graphic design skills and I'm sure others have too, so we can help you if you need it. Just ask.

2. The person that put themselves forward to do a presentation next week, for the sake of marketing, could you clarify a) What that will be on and b) How long will it take roughly?

3. The person from Aptivate that mentioned he would advertise on a local Cambridge group, which group was that? And have you written a copy for it (May I see it if you have?) Also are you creating the eventbrite page for Tuesday's meeting? Please could you send me the link as soon as you can, when that is created, so I can start spreading the word.

4. Should we have our own Cambridge Crisis Camp Google group, so that we can discuss things with each other during the week without feeling like we are disturbing the London Camp Folks?

Well that's it from me! It would be good to hear from you guys, and mention your names please :) (I promise to learn them!)

Thank you.

Cheers

Salma
